As a non black individual I strongly recommend against a non emotional overreaction to this. The people who push DEI hate the people they claim to help knowing the Stigma it will create with the target group. Also from a purely mathematical Point of view. If the vast majority of trained pilots or students are not of a certain demographic but the DEI quota requires a number disproportionate to the pool of availability, then the only method of reaching the defined quota is a reduction in standard. Ok go ahead with the angry emotional comments below.

No CEO should ever make a statement based on DEI it should always be merit based. Now that said more needs to be done to engage minorities and women earlier when they start considering careers options. Engage them younger light that spark

Kong 💜 My dad is a pilot. He served in the airforce. He earned his wings and now is an instructor teaching the next generation.
  • @GGable
You're missing the point of the statement. The point is that positions should be based on Merit not skin color
  • Yes!! …..Finally an airline that puts DEI quotas first ahead of qualifications and safety!!! I can’t wait to fly United and feel that comfort level! It’s an absurd premise to think I’m not “allowed” to have a logical opinion or logical deduction from United’s quota policy.

Kong, this is why I subscribe, share and learn brother. You remind me of my father because he's independent, and good at breaking down political issues and certain views like yourself 👍🏿
  • As someone who has been offered support by their party yes, yes you do have to basically sell your soul. "I plead the 5th on any further questions."
  • You see how they treat it Ron Smith that young black gay Republican, He's so Jim Jonesed he on TV saying he was surprised that his party act like this. Not a plot twist: No other Republicans came to his side

What makes someone qualified? In the military standards have been reduced. This should be the concern when efforts to include more women and other minorities happens. Are they hired for their skills or for other reasons?
  • @griffin9773
The media didn't present this info correctly but anyone with good common sense would know that United Airlines' corporate officers wouldn't make foolish, frivolous decisions like this.
  • @bbwlover737
Just FYI is you got into a plane and see a BLK PILOT -->He's Over-Qualified!
  • @cinnapaw23
Here is a thought. If a plane accident happens and they find the pilot was hired by DEI and not qualified, the families should not have to go to court and all should be awarded min $10 million.
  • @alainberlaty1394
I would think the same way, if there's no merit, capabilities, experience I don't trust period.
  • @Jaymes3000
The door came off the Alaska Airlines from all female unit.
  • @pissyjo1213
Let’s pray you never need heart surgery and before you go in to have that surgery you find out they hire people based on their skin color and one of the doctors is going to work on you. Still comfortable?
  • @MrRap713
Its cool because i say the same thing about white pilots and male pilots
  • @matiusbond6052
