Don’t Believe the AI Hype! Do This Instead as a Self Taught Developer.

The AI hype and fear are real. Will AI Replace Developer Jobs? Here is what I am doing to see through the BS and spot reality.

In this video, we'll touch on the hype around AI and its potential to replace developer jobs.

As a self-taught developer, I understand the importance of navigating this hype and focusing on the facts. Instead of relying on YouTube gurus and AI experts, I recommend seeking out talks and discussions by industry experts to better understand what AI models are truly capable of.

One talk that I highly recommend is "What's Wrong with Large Language Models and What We Should Build Instead" by Thomas Dietterich.

This talk illuminates the challenges and shortcomings of current AI models, emphasizing the need for further improvements before they can fully replace developers. By watching this talk, you can get a clearer picture of the reality and limitations of AI language models.

It is also essential to educate oneself about AI before forming opinions. I recommend taking online AI and deep learning courses to demystify the technology.

By understanding how these underlying systems work, you can have meaningful discussions about AI without falling into the hype trap.

Don't be swayed by the AI hype. Educate yourself, seek expert opinions, and develop a deeper understanding of AI's capabilities and limitations.

As a self-taught developer, it's important to stay vigilant and think critically rather than allowing others' opinions to dictate your path.

Remember, unfounded claims should never hinder the pursuit of knowledge and personal growth.

All the best - Paul

Great video! Yea with all the social media platforms constantly speaking about this topic. I've reached the point where I won't click these videos no more. I click on what I am focused on and filter out the noise. Nothing you can do about it, A.I. will take its natural course. Might as well focus on what you can do. I still code every day.
  • I love how I got a bunch of dislikes on this video, I would love to know the reason why? It will help me better understand where folks are coming from and how I can improve. 🙂

2 years ago, the concept of ChatGPT was ridiculously nonsensical, and 30-100 years away.... Yet, here we are, 2 years later, with GPT, Claude, LLama, Sora, Suno, Sora, Devin... And GPT5 hasn't even been shown yet.. We. Are. F U K D.
