Haikyuu is IMO the best sport anime there is. The character development is just insane. Athlete like yourself will understand so much of what these characters are going trought. And its just so real and well animated. You will get frustrated, sad, happy, emotional and hyped at the same time.

Bluelock and Haikyuu are like yin and yang. Blue Lock captures how it feels to compete in a sport on an individual level. Haikyuu captures how it feels to compete in a sport on a team level.

TO me as someone who has read the bluelock manga and the haikyuu manga, haikyuu is more than just your typical sports anime. It is a character driven story that happens be in the setting of volleyball. It really reminds me of slam dunk and I mean this in the best way possible. Like to me slam dunk and haikyuu are the pinnacle of sports manga and if you decide to watch all the way through you will see why. To say this anime/manga doesnt have a special place in my heart would be an understatement. I have read the manga 4 times now and I am still catching small things that I haven't caught originally. Every character is fleshed out, the payoffs are incredible, the intensity of the matchups is always present, and the final arc is truly a masterclass in writing (similar to slam dunk). Not sure if you will read this, but to me haikyuu is not only one of my favorite sports manga (top 2), but it's in my personal top 10 manga of all time. Its that well written. So enjoy the ride

A reminder if you didn't catch it. Hinata's "team" wasn't a team. It was 2 of his good friends one who played basketball and the other I think was soccer. Then they got a bunch of first years (6th graders) to fill the other spots. They were never good Also to clarify the, "what have you been doing the last 3 years" line. Kageyama sees that he has potential so he is like, if you care this much then why aren't you one a real team and learning more

A lot of people became volleyball enthusiasts because of this anime. The amount of motivation this anime brings is crazy. I used to watch the hype moments before school tournaments start to hype myself up

Found the channel because of blue lock, now staying because of Haikyuu.

Haikyuu captures the essence of sports so well that it's undoubtedly the best sports anime of all time.
  • As someone who’s a former athlete ( retired at an early age due to multiple serious injuries ) and someone who’s been an anime fan for 15+ years. Haikyuu is by far the best sports anime I’ve seen, cause unlike the many other sports anime I’ve watched and manga I’ve read over the years ( my first ever sports anime I experienced was The prince of tennis, which I watched for the first time almost 12 years ago ), Haikyuu is the one that conveys the best messages & feelings of what it’s really like to not only play a sport but actually fall in love with it. It has the right amount of essence of how athletes actually connect with sports in general. The drive, the passion & determination is all there and that is due to the writing of the story & development of the characters

If you keep watching I'm sure you will love this anime. The character development is so great. When the players actually get to do the thing they were training for for MONTHS, oh my, I just cry.
