My Favorite Feature of @ableton Push 3 [ and how it changed my live setup ]

My obsession with finding a practical yet powerful live setup might have found its end.
After I found out that Push 3 had ADAT ins and outs I realized I could integrate my modular case seamlessly with it using the Expert Sleepers ES-6 and ES-3.The results exceeded my expectations.
Using the usb hub I am able to hook my OXI One and 16n for further playability , plus I can process my sounds in the same way I would do on a DAW.
What I have now is a powerful and intuitive canvas to create, record and perform.
Let me share with you how I put together the system!

Great video... One extra tip when using the ES adat modules to send audio over to the push: it's a good idea to use the utility effect on the push at the start of the signal chain for each input channel and select "DC Filter On". That's because the ES modules are DC coupled (so you can send constant CV as well as audio) so there'll always be a small random constant offset on each channel which can cause you problems further down the line if you don't filter it out.

So timely! I just set up my Push 3 for CV. More on this set up from you in the future please!

Your English is great and your descriptions are very clear. One merely needs to concentrate and listen. Thankyou for posting. PS. Great set up.
  • That was great. I've got all the components to make this work and putting my setup back together after some time away. Very helpful!

Welcome to the hybrid family buddy 🙌🏻
  • @studio-lami
Great vid Frederico! The hybrid setup is the way to go, and it's so reassuring to see you getting so excited for this methodology! I have the Push 2 but it's possible with a few differences — one day I will upgrade to P3 + ES-3 (ADAT) — love your walk-thru! Thanks for continuing to be so awesome! I just bought your Perkons Sample Pack — which I'm excited to load onto my Rample (which I love). Ciao!

Oora, you have been killing it lately with your video’s. 🙌👏. Loved the content with the torso t-1 and syntakt!
  • @Ikon_Sound
very nice set up, this was just what I wanted to look at as I have all the gear, I just need to connect it all together so it works how I want it to 😳
  • @vvcv__00
Nice setup Oora! You may be close to crossing over as a hardware/software instrument user. Be careful, i fell into this trap when I discovered how to pipe my slate & ash instruments through VCV rack and hardware modules. This now allows me the opportunity to have my favorite Slate/Ash instruments do things they could not do on their own. Using hardware instruments to push software instruments beyond their own limits has me pretty excited. Good luck with your newly found workflow potential!...it seems there may be a lot of ideas/creativity waiting to be found.

Nice setup. I like this one very much because it's limited in pieces of gear but with a lot of possibilities. A modular case + some groovebox/ableton clip launching is very complementary. I do a similar thing, only that instead of push3 I use an mc707. I think it's important to limit yourself with what you will do with the push3 because it's so inmensely broad. 6-8 channels is more than enough.

Great video as usual Oora! Would be interesting to know how clocking between modular and push 3 is handled. Also if you experienced latency issues and how they were addressed in push 3. Thanks again!
  • @fablesofsilence
Great setup! The 16n is nice for more direct control of push for sure. I wish the push would have two adat I/o ports, I have used up all my channels quickly for my setup where I use a Buchla Music Easel with the Push 3 and Model1 mixer. Similar idea to yours although I use Push more for looping. Cheers!
  • Thank you for your help to understand Push3 Standalone workflow. May I make a suggestion for your channel?, could you make series of videos about How to use Ableton push 3 standalone with one midi controller & one basic synthesizer with direct connection. (please don’t use modular synthesizer because it is too complicated for many people, lets choose basic synthesizer model like Moog 37 or Roland Boutiques) after that continue with adat options & usb hub scenerios. One question could we use standalone push 3 with powerbank for outside 😎 & what kind of powerbank should be?
  • @insecto.3725
great tutorial as always! Did you also had a look into Intelijel Quadrax? So you can do 4 envelops and you can control them via cv. So you can send one cv from the oxi to control the amplitute of 1 envelope. Would might save some hp. cheers from Dresden :)
  • @xoqoable
I’d probably use the cv out on push and save some space on the modular. Otherwise great stuff. Hope to see more push content. ❤
  • @LordoftheBadgers
Thanks sir... There's so little push 3 / es / CV content that shows a good way to work with it. I have an SL mixface which hopefully will work OK with the p3. 16n looks cool but slmixface has rotary as well as faders. But I've yet to try it. My ES modules are on their way at last...
