Solutions? It's like the reporter was just happy to see fans go beast mode. He could've done a follow-up or something with engineers who build storm-proof houses or expanded on the crucial differences between those two houses.

I watched something about the strength of different types of roofing materials once, years ago. I was surprised that the heavy-duty tiles actually were more vulnerable than asphalt shingles. That was because - as seen here - the shingles will bend in high wind, but won't necessarily tear off. In contrast, if one tile comes loose, the wind can then immediately get underneath all the tiles around the open space, and they can be ripped off the roof all at once.

Knock on wood but my house that my grandfather built has survived hurricane Betsy, Camille and Katrina including all the others since the 30’s with only losing a few shingles, just lucky I guess but I know one day it’s going to go, can’t take all that stress and continue to stand. The house is all stucco. Back half of the house, all the interior rooms are stucco also, ruff cut lumber and plaster ceilings.

This is so funny!!! You know in the Yucatán Peninsula, we adopted the ancient Mayan stone roof and we not even evacuate if we're not in flood danger. Wind doesn't do anything to our homes and buildings.
