"SPAD Alert contact the signaller" It's like telling your parents that you didn't do your homework.

"So, what got you fired from the railway?" "Oh, I forgot to acknowledge the AWS, then went overspeed, then SPADed at the same time."

John McDermott - New Street, Paul Turner - Crewe, Mark Dixon - New Street and Colin Kempster - Bletchley. Paul Turner is now retired, the other three remain on their jobs as instructor drivers.

Just remembered a question now! Towards the end there’s the demonstration of “increasing severity” (e.g. failing to cancel an AWS warning then overspeeding/SPADding), what happens in the other direction (e.g. a SPAD then an uncancelled AWS or overspeed)? Now I’m curious 🤓

Interesting. Why the 60 sec wait? To cool down the brakes? Is TWPS already in use now ( july 2016)?

What if you shut down the panel right before passing a signal at danger ?

An AWS fail to cancel, please could someone help explain… Does this mean the driver has failed to cancel the aws or that the aws button fails to work?
