STORYLINE:
Protesters in Israel held a demonstration on Thursday aimed at reminding Israelis that the fate of the hostages held in Gaza is in their hands.

The protesters held up to their faces photos of half of the faces of some of the hostages.

Demonstrators calling for the release of the remaining nearly 130 hostages have staged numerous protests calling on the government to agree to a cease-fire deal that would set the hostages free.

Israel launched its war in Gaza after Hamas’ Oct. 7 attack in which militants stormed into southern Israel, killed about 1,200 people — mostly civilians — and abducted about 250.

At least 35,000 Palestinians have been killed, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry, which doesn’t distinguish between combatants and civilians.
