Reversing Diabetes - The Roles Medication and Diet Play

Published 2023-01-27
In this video I discuss how to reverse diabetes and the effects of diet versus medications. The role diet is not emphasized enough. Real, whole foods will not cause a tremendous surge in your insulin. Now, I'm not saying that you shouldn't do drugs. I'm saying the drugs have a place. But so does diet. If you are overweight, if you have diabetes, or complications of diabetes, particularly, you have to look at medicines. Yes. Talk to your doctor. Talk to him about the medicines. Find out which ones maybe suitable for you. But you must change your diet also.

Remember that my videos are not a substitute for individualized medical care by a qualified physician. Always consult your physicians before making any diet, nutrition, medication, or lifestyle changes.

We talked about this in my previous videos about how the root cause of this problem is mostly the diet, lifestyle, what we eat, how we eat, and how frequently we're eating that's. Here are links to some of those:

I watched a video about fasting from you in December. I started following your advice, cut out sugar and most all processed food, and I've already lost 20 lbs. I feel so much better and energetic!! Thank you for making sense and giving easy to follow advice 😊 ❤
  • @TonyaEL
I followed the advice you gave on a previous video. A1C tested this past December and I’m no longer a diabetic. Went from 9.1 to 5.8. Thank you Dr J
  • Doctor! Your videos changed my life. I lost 23 kg ( 51 lbs ) in 45 days. Down from 96 kg ( 212 lbs ) to a now 73 kg ( 161 lbs ). Just realizing i was addicted to eating. Just like you said. A new way of living has opened up for all of us who are benefiting from what you are so unselfishly sharing with us. Being grateful to you is an under statement. Countless heartfelt thanks to you from all of us who believe you as a leader of the pack.

My A1c went from 6.4 to 5 in less than 6 months doing Keto and IF. I lost 50 lbs and corrected about 42 health issues by my last count. I am almost 61 and could easily outperform myself at 25. My cardiologist said, "whatever you are doing, keep doing it."
  • This time last year I weighed 270 lbs. (5'9"). I went Keto and worked my way to one meal a day. I ate less than 20 carbs almost every day and did some 72-hour fasts about once a month. I now weigh 180 lbs and A1C went from 8.7 to 6.4. I quit metformin and glipizide about 5 months ago. I will get another A1C test in a few weeks and I am hoping to be in the 5.9 range. Diet is everything! Sugar is horrendous to one's health. Your advice was my reason for the great improvements. Thank you, Doctor!

  • @Eliean77
I was diagnosed with T2DM a year ago. Then I did my research fixed my diet and naturally started fasting. Now I'm doing low-carb + OMAD. I lost 70lbs in 9 months after 3months my A1C was 5.3 after 9 months it was 5.1. After the 6th month I stopped taking metformin. I'm so greatful for these educational videos on youtube.
  • @GodofWarChuka
Great Videos Dr! And Thanks! I’ve learned a lot. I’m 51, and I was 310 pounds last August. Started Intermittent Fasting on Sept, 1st. Currently at 250. Lost 60 pounds in a little over 4 months! ❤️😊👍
  • @Yogiholic
Never diabetic, but lost 40 lbs following your dietary and fasting advice. Good stuff!!
  • @katlynkang15
I water fasted from 12/30/22-1/25/23 I lost 31lbs. My a1c was 8.4 now I am 5.6 I am not on medication anymore. I wish all doctor's were like you who fixes and heals illnesses not look at each person as $$$. My body doesn't accept sweets anymore. Tastes nasty. My glucose prior to eating varies from 80 to 100 depending what time. My glucose after eating is about highest at 138. Then drops to about 110 within 2 hrs then drops below 100. I am so happy. I was never a snacker but liked bubble tea. Now I eat healthier with no rice. I am Asian which was hard to quit on rice. I also eat 1 meal a day and do not over eat. I want to lower my a1c a bit more. Please don't give up everyone. I don't recommend but I did without a doctor bc I dont trust my endocrinologist. I stopped metformin also bc I trust my body. It really does know what it is doing. My lowest was 55 but very shortly went right back up to 90. I did not have any symptoms of hypoglycemia. I have the sensor that continuously reads my glucose which was very helpful.
  • Started intermittent fasting 7 weeks ago, already lost 24 pounds and feel much better. 5' 9" 65 years old man. It works!
  • November 5, I started intermittent fasting with basically keto and Mediterranean diet. Today January 31 2023. I saw my endocrinologist. She was thrilled with the results of IF PLan diet. And even though I stopped taking all my diabetes medication, she was extremely pleased with the results so far I’ve lost 27 pounds. My sugar is maintaining good control. I will continue to do intermittent fasting and exclude the carbs and sugars. I’m so glad my son turned me on TO INTERMITTENT fasting. Good fats and protein. Little carbs, sugars. No processed foods. Thank you.
  • My goodness, he explains it so well!! Brillant communicator about such a major global disease!! Thank you Dr.!🙏
  • Ever every time you come out with new video, I drop everything and listen first, looking forward to listening more videos in 2023 thank you and I love you 💕

Thanks a lot to God he used you Doctor, my HbA1C on December 2023 was 7.3 and after I saw your video about Intermittent Fasting, thanks God it went down into 5.2. I highly reccomend you to really stop eating when you are not hungry, and also abolish the old habbit of eating snacks in between meals. The best way is to fast for 16 hours everyday and assign an 8 hours eating window. For example, you skip breakfast and eat your lunch. Then eat dinner maximum at 8pm and then skip again your breakfast the next day and do it repeatedly. 1) Skip Breakfast 2) Lunch at 12:00 noon 3) Dinner at 6:00pm or 8:00pm maximum Repeat it everyday and you can see the huge amount of your HbA1C reduction. Doing this is just like you are fasting from 8:00pm until 12:00noon the next day (16 hours of fasting). Believe me it works, thanks God for this Doctor.
