I'd be really keen to hear more about that book you mentioned once you have finished reading it. It sounds really interesting. I agree with the universal income point you and your commenter made. I know it's cliché for an autistic man to like Star Trek, but I really do (Voyager & The Next Generation mainly) and one aspect I like about the future society it is set in, is that they have no money and that the acquisition of wealth is no longer a driver in their 24th century post-scarcity society, no private property only personal property and so forth and people have their needs provided for them, giving them the genuine freedom to exercise their abilities, it's inspiring.
