It was, is and always will be one of the coolest cars that Chevrolet has ever produced. The Chevrolet Impala SS, after a long absence, reappeared in 1994 with slick black paint, a 260bhp LT1 V8 and a presence that made it one of the most sinister cars of the day.

This particular 1996 Impala SS, with a mere 1,700 original miles, is owned by one Michael Render, AKA Killer Mike from Run The Jewels. However unlike most folks who would shoehorn something like this away from the public, Mike instead purchased it for one reason and one reason only - to use it as a daily driver.

I sold that car to Mike! Killer video on the car, the subtle mods and on Killer Mike!! I love that he personalized it and drives it.

Killer Mike seems like a genuinely nice dude and someone who would be awesome to have a few beers and chat cars with!
  • Bulletproof is an understatement my 96 impala has 450,000 miles on it and is still going strong

Dope interview.πŸ‘ There's still a few things in this country that can still bring everyone together, and cars is one of um.
  • My dad bought two of them in 96. He gave me one to drive, (as a college student), and put the other one in storage. It had all the dealer prep on it and only had 9 miles. He sold it before he passed away in 2009. I wanted to keep it, but he wanted to let it go. We honored his wish. I drove the piss out of the one I had. It was a great car, till I got rear-ended in a toll booth on the North Dallas Tollway in 2001. Great episode Mike!!!
  • Most people just don't understand that, the older cars just have more personality than the new ones.

I bought my DCM 1996 Impala SS on Nov 05, 1995. She was my daily driver for 16 years. I miss that car. She was my starship Enterprise. Meaning it was huge, and it had a warp drive that took you to 158 mph.

If you’ve been following Killer Mike you know that he is a bonafide car guy. Those 96 Impalas are timeless.

Mike Musto is so cool, even his beard grows racing stripes. I really enjoy the show and am VERY glad to see every episode.

Just bought on with 36k original miles and perfect paint and interior. So glad I got my dream car πŸ™ŒπŸΎ
  • Mane Killa, my dad drove a 85 Caprice for as long as I can remember as a little boi. But when the '96 SS came out, he was at the dealership to drive his car off the truck in '96. He still owns it today and it has 60,000 original miles. The ONLY thing he's change is the shocks to Blisteins performance. My dream car is the 2007-2008 Cadillac STS-V and I'm gonna get it too, SOON!!!!!!!!!
  • Great episode, I purchased my 1996 impala ss in 2000 with 64,000 miles. The motor blew up @ 315,000 miles after 13 years of hell from me. I am currently swapping in a 2010 5.3 ls. I purchased my 1995 black cherry impala ss this year with 124,000 miles. Suffice to say I am extremely excited about my new one and swapping my 96. They are great beautiful cars!
