Is it a match-making marriage?... The couple seems to be in their separate worlds to me. The guests are having a swell time, but the couple is NOT.

Poor sound quality as usual. Most live performance videos from Nigeria have such poor sound quality! It is embarrassing! Nigerian videographers and technicians shoot their videos the way the audience shoots with cell phone camera. They have no idea how to actually get optimum sound, so that the person watching the video will hear a studio quality audio. And it is very easy to do!

Okay I’m Ghanaian so I understand the face and that the bride looks unhappy but more so she’s just probably tired of all the fuss that is going on around her..and maybe a tad unhappy. Lol! For a lot of these African couples the wedding is thrown by their parents in order to show the status of the family. The richer you are the bigger the wedding obviously. But if it was left up to the couples alone, they would more than likely want to tone things down than have such an extravagant affair thrown with you and your partner as the center of everyone’s attention. It’s a lot of pressure. And for some of these women they have always gotten everything they wanted that this wedding is just another thing that was going to happen for her at this level whether she wanted it or not. I would wager good money that most of these couples would probably rather have eloped if they could have! But family is #1 priority in all African cultures and you must do what the family wants. And yeah, probably some of these marriages are arranged and not so much love matches but you still go through with it for the family because sometimes, these things were decided before you could even walk, maybe even before you were born. State side, meaning in the US, more of the marriages between Africans are love marches so you see the couples having more fun and more into activities. New York State and city, Brooklyn specifically, has the largest expat community of Ghanaians in the US. Lots of big, extravagant weddings are thrown in that city I’m sure. But doubtful if anything has ever come close to the level of the party in the video. But perhaps; maybe the King’s children have the biggest events thrown for them because he is the King. Davido, the artist performing is one of Nigeria’s top recording artists! For him to be at that wedding performing, obviously the brides family, and probably the groom’s too, is very much well off and this is just another party they can throw to show that to everyone. Think of the expense. It would translate to hundreds of thousands in US dollars probably. At least $100,000. This is a big event. My 1st Birthday party lasted a week and I was only 1. But I am the first born daughter to my parents; my mom is an African Princess (her mother was a Queen Mother). My father’s family was very well off and respected. The pictures are crazy. But Africans like to party big style, big time, all the time, for anything! Even funerals are huge events! Just some insight for all those asking questions. I know I would shudder to have an event of this size thrown for me. How many people are in that room? Your guess is as good as mine. The last song is a Davido hit called FIA.
