I am currently using Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark II as my main camera and the OM System OM-1 has become the secondary, back up camera. I explain why in this video.

Rob I sense your frustration with Internet criticism. I appreciate your honesty and insights. Many people are looking for validation via reviews. There is a small group that enjoys stirring things up with caustic remarks. The majority of us who follow your channel simply appreciate the heart and integrity of your reviews. Thank you!

Dear Robin, in my opinion you are among the few photography oriented YouTubers who I find trustworthy and credible and also competent.

What a great guy Robin really is! He gave away his Mark III ! Let's all take good care of our Olympus cameras.
  • @danny_r27
You’re one of the few that’s completely honest in their reviews so I always trust what you have to say ❤

The EM1 Mark II is a great camera. One of the best value options on the used market right now. I have one and use it several times a week.

Don't let the negative ninnies bother you. They're never happy unless they're unhappy. Good to see that you're putting cameras to use as they were intended and not simply a bookend.

I just came back from my hiking trip in Glaciers National Park, USA using my E-M1 MarkII, and all I can say is, the photos looked great. I have no complaints whatsoever, so your video about this particular camera is valid Robin. Keep up with your great videos!

IGNORE the haters, Robin. To quote Frank Sinatra, "Some people get their kicks, stompin' on a dream." I've been watching your videos off and on for many years now, and you are hands-down the most honest, down to earth, real-deal photography-based content creator on YouTube. You should be able to voice whatever opinion you have about the new OM-1. If you don't like the AF, you don't like the AF. It's really that simple. Also, it's very nice of that guy to send you an OM-1, but that doesn't mean you should sing false praises about it, if that's not how you truly feel. The fact that you gifted your MarkIII to someone else to balance out the karma is way more than most people would do, and shows what kind of a person you are. Just keep being yourself, dude. I - and I'm sure many others - am here mostly for you and your great personality and passion for photography, regardless of what brand of camera or lens or whatever you're discussing. Keep rocking, dude!

There is no such thing as a perfect camera. Thank you for your honesty.

It's quite simple, the EM1ii is a fantastic all rounder camera. Love mine!

I work with the OM System OM-1 regularly and extensively in many different areas of photography and the OM-1 is a great camera that I really enjoy, but Robin is absolutely correct in his criticism of the autofocus. I can confirm this from intensive experience. I have firmware 1.5 and the problem is still there. The camera is really super well equipped, it's just a software problem and I hope they fix it. And yes, also I tried all the different settings from the toturials and it didn't solve the problem. I've even tried my own ideas that go beyond that, but without success. However, this only affects the S-AF and C-AF in very poor light and poor contrast. Scene detection works very well!

Excellent video. I love my OMD EM1 Mark II as well. Thanks for pointing out the AF problem with the OM1. That was very useful information.
  • @garethevans3600
Love your enthusiasm. Always makes me want to get out with my camera.

Love your honesty bro and picked up an EM 1 Mk iii after being inspired by your videos in spite of having a Sony full frame. Enjoying the light weight and high frame rates of the MFT for my birding. Keep up the good work Robin.
