Comets are like asteroids but more icy than rocky — they come out of the distant parts of our solar system and can be visible for days. They are notable because of their tails. Meteors are smaller rocks that usually burn up in our atmosphere. If anything reaches the Earth's surface, that remnant is called a meteorite. Larger asteroids may be called meteors, but the understanding is that they cause damage, sometimes very severe. I intend no disrespect. Thanks for reading. P.S.
