That device under the hood was not power brakes but the Electromatic Clutch. Vacuum assisted clutch for gear shifting before the advent of automatic transmissions.
  • Just wonderful cars. Congratulations 🇪🇪🇺🇸🇪🇪🇺🇸🇪🇪🇺🇸
  • Very Beautiful. And not a Bad Asking Price, to be able to own a Piece of American Automotive History!!
  • @BelAir1603
BEAUTIFUL! It's one of my favourite cars!

The item you thought was a power brake booster is actually a part of the Electromatic Clutch. You’ll find the “Clutch” switch on the dash on the right side of the panel. A rarely-maintained option that’s worth a few minutes of reading. Beautiful car!

Jay, I didn’t hear ya speak about the rear vent windows, those are super cool…
  • @karaDee2363
That's a nice car but I really love the styling of the Packard's during the 1930s more..
  • Beautiful! Do you still have 1951 model 48D, Buick Special Deluxe! 2dr tourback sedan! In Teal?

HI Jay, my grandfather owned a 1952 Desoto - the dash was metal with wood grain on it. I remember him telling me how it was painted white with a special paint and the wood grain was imprinted like a photograph - I think it was a pretty common practice in the auto industry at the time. Do you know anything more about it ?
  • Why doesn't anybody bother to show how to open the hood on these packards?
  • Some people find it beautiful but next to the 48 Cadillac... A good total restyle for the Clipper's body was needed and the 51 style was not that great either, selling lesser priced cars going for volume instead of prestige diluted the marque plus the absence of a V8 all but killed Packard, very bad management overall...
