Itâs light refraction off of an aircraftâs contrail as it was climbing through the undercast. As a 32 year career pilot, I can assure you that we see this âphenomenonâ almost daily.

A few years back, on a trip to San Diego, my wife and I noticed people looking out their windows on our side of the plane. We looked out and saw something almost EXACTLY like this. It even did a tilt up maneuver like in this video, then slid behind some clouds and out of sight. We don't talk about it much, we don't want to seem insane, but this right here is so remarkably similar that I had to make a comment.
