Context behind some footages: 1:05 - Khrushchev giving his "On the Cult of Personality and Its Consequences" speech, which criticized Stalin's method of rule 2:41 - In 1972 the US reciprocated the gesture of the Chinese by sending their own invitation for the Chinese players to come play in the US. In the footage Nixon greets the table tennis team. This event is separate from, but closely related to the 1971 invitation in that it continued to pursue Triangular Diplomacy in strengthening ties with the Chinese. Unlike the 1971 invitation, there was footage to be found of it. 3:21 - The actual Hong Kong-China border the table tennis team left through. 3:55 - Forrest Gump's (fictional) participation in Ping Pong Diplomacy. The post-WWII period in APUSH was very interesting in part because this character was involved in so many major events which were taught.
