This overgrown yard belongs to one of my regular elderly customer (I think she is 83 years old). Back in the day when her husband was around, they won an award for nicest garden in the suburb. Now days, though, it is extremely hard for her to do the garden. This side area has been like this since I started the regular mowing service (4 years ago), as the customer couldn't afford to get it fixed, so I offered to do the renovation for free! In the end, Shirley felt uncomfortable not paying, so she threw in $60AUD for tip fees - it made her feel better about the situation πŸ₯°.

This is actually the second episode from this yard, the other one is the jungle of a corner. The job took us around 3.5 hours to complete, and we took out a full trailer load of green waste.

Workers on this job: George (long pants) & Brent (shorts).

FAQ's:

Q: Do you worry about snakes?
A: I have never even seen a snake in 4 years on the job.

Q: Where are you located?
A: We are from Hobart, Tasmania, Australia 🦘🦘🦘.

Q: Which equipment do you use?
A: We use mostly STIHL power equipment (battery and petrol) and commercial Honda self-propelled mowers.

Q: How much do the jobs cost?
A: Sorry, I prefer not to talk about costs!

Q: What happened to Nick?
A: Nick was offered a full-time position at his other job as a Political admin!

Q: Why don't you use tarps instead of cans?
A: Tarps are too difficult to move through small spaces and lift into the trailer. The same for wheelbarrows, they are only good for unloading the trailer!

Q: Why are the hot water cylinders outside?
A: I'm not really sure to be honest, maybe something to do with space & maintenance, but either way, it really is poor heat efficiency!

Q: Why are you cutting so close to your employee!
A: I'm not cutting too close to my workers, they are standing too close to where I am working! All of my workers have been told numerous times about standing too close to the tools and about the hazards involved!

Q: Why do your workers do all the lifting and carrying?
A: Basically, they are employed to carry things and I pay them well to do the job required.

Q: You work so well together, how do you do it?
A: That's the magic of editing. My workers are basically given instructions on what to do, I just edit it all out, so the videos look seamless!

You're such a precise professional. When there are vines, you cut them then remove the roots. You fully but carefully trim bushes & understand how shape a tree. Thanks for continuing to provide these videos & doing the best work for those in need!

I had no idea common English ivy was toxic at all! I just looked at it as another green plant, so I learned something very valuable today. I also thought it was a nuisance plant in the yard. Such a lovely garden now, I am sure the older owner appreciated it, as I am no longer able to do my own yard, at 79.

I will never understand why people let vines grow all over their fence. It holds moisture and causes the wood to rot, not to mention all the insects it houses. Great job as usual. You always go above and beyond for those in need.
  • A good power washing of those patio's and driveway would be nice for sure. Great JOB guys looks so much better. God bless you both.
