  • Had the pleasure of seeing this show; Joni was her usual mesmerizing; stunning; unique and beautiful self.
  • I got to see Joni with Metheny and Pastorius.... I consider myself, blessed lucky.
  • I was fortunate enough to have seen Joni several times in the’70’s and 80’s. We have a restored Orpheum Theater here and during those first decades we got to see her, by herself on stage. For a young guitarist it was moving to hear her live. But alas, fifty years later, she has had a stroke and other illnesses. Just shows that we don’t live forever. But she is not the young lady that I first saw on stage. Time and a proclivity for writing songs that would both lift you up or bring you to tears have made her an ICON never to be her younger self again. But they still wheel her out for a few songs on a throne wrapped up in a blanket. Must have been a great life but one day soon we will learn of her passing. Next to Gordon Lightfoot and Neil Young, she is one of the best shining examples of song craft that Canada has ever sent us. “Take your time It won’t be long now, Until you drag your feet just to slow the circles the circles down…”

I went to this show and she brought tears to my eyes. It is still one of the most moving gigs I have ever seen....nearly 40 years later.

  • Only just come across this - like some of you I was at this show too! Great to be able to revisit nigh on 40 years later 🥂
  • One of the few regrets I have in my life: That I never had the chance to see Joni Mitchell perform live on stage. For me she's the best singer-songwriter of all time. Yes, there are a lot of other great musicians out there, not to worry, but her music kind of saved my lonely youth. I even used to play some of her songs. Joni Mitchell is my inner eternal flame.

As superb as this band was the SHADOWS AND LIGHT lineup WAS UNTOUCHABLE!!!!
  • Have to say for me ; Jony is a femalsinger in a class for her self. Every thing in her music are so original that you can"t put in any box . She is a mucical genius!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • I was lucky enough to see the gig at the NEC on the same tour. I remember Joni had recently married her bass player, Larry Klein, and he was her musical director and led the band. I believe he was also instrumental in encouraging her to tour again as she had become disillusioned with the music business. She had released a new album, "Wild Things Run Fast", which was a little uneven to be honest when compared to her 70s material, but it did feature her artwork prominently. I remember rushing to the bottom of stage for the encore-you could do it in those days. She played a medley of "Both SIdes Now" and "The Circle Game". These memories stay with you forever. Bless you Joni! She's finally and deservedly being recognized for the pre-emminent artist musicians and her fans always knew she was.
