========= Union (Slopes Of St. Benedict) LYRICS =========

As a turn of the tide
It is our turn to rise
The force of a union at war
March over the mountains
On our way to the north
On the road that will lead us to Rome
Our way will not be easy
It will take us through hardship and pain
Hill after hill breaking their line of defense
Head on north

Mile after mile our march carries on
No army may stop our approach
Fight side by side
Many nations unite
At the shadow of Monte Cassino
We fight and die together
As we head for the valley of death
Destiny calls
We’ll not surrender or fail

To arms!
Under one banner
As a unit we stand
And united we fall –
As one fighting together
Bringing the end to the slaughter
Winds are changing
Head on north!

  • Everyone is gangsta until the bear starts bringing artillery shells.

Battle of Monte Cassino: Is mostly forgotten due after the D-Day Invasion Sabaton: "Not to me."

”Fight side by side, many nations unite” In the battle of Monte Cassino, allied soldiers from all 6 inhabited continents participated. That was a first in history.

"Regard your soldiers as your children and they will follow you in deepest battles, look upon them as your own beloved sons, and they will stand by you even until death" best fucking quote ever

"To arms under one banner,as a unit we stay, and united will fall" can be a good slogan.

I remember 2 years ago being in Italy and blasting sabaton while in Rome driving to the monte casino, seeing the mountain in the distance as it only got bigger the closer we drove. flying over the Italian alps later that week to France and landing in Paris and heading to Normandy to be on juno beach for the 75th anniversary of D-Day playing Primo Victoria and all their other music in-between. Sabaton is always playing when i travel to historical landmarks. no matter what!

"To arms! Under one banner As a unit we stand And united we fall – As one fighting together Bringing the end to the slaughter Winds are changing Head on north!" love that line. Makes me feel like all of us will stand together and as one Union we'll stand and fight strong to survive.

My great grandfather fought under Monte Casino, he was a sergeant the Polish 2nd corps, up to that point he has been in 3 different wars. He was in his 40s during ww2, yet he still helped retake Monte casino. 🇵🇱

I love songs like this, that tell a great story! The Art of War is just a perfect album!
  • My great-grandfather fought in the Battle of Monte Casino with the forces of General Anders (he was in of the artillery logistics unit, i suspect that he might've worked alongside Wojtek the Bear). Previously he travelled with Polish forces all around Europe during the war looking for ways to get enrolled. He fought facists even before the war started - in the Spanish Civil War against gen. Franco. He managed to survive the war with s rank of corporal and recieved a diplomma with thanks signed by General himself - We now consider it a family heirloom. It feels incredible to listen to this song - it brings so much emotion and pride to know that my family member was one of those brave men who were there when the world needed them the most. Keep immortalizing history, because what you do is incredible. Thank you for the wonderful song!

My great grandfather was a polish officer at monte casino He was in charge of about 140 - 150 people
  • A number of years ago I was a guest of the Benedictine monks at the abbey of St. Benedict in Monte Cassino. From the rebuilt abbey you can see row upon row of crosses marking the final resting places of those who died in this battle. The monks gave me a tour and explained how everything - everything - had to be rebuilt following the war. It was an incredibly moving experience.
