The fact that there was a picture of my cousin in this video says a lot about how few and how related all of us are....

So the old joke about Vikings stealing all our good looking woman actually has a grain of truth to it?!
  • @islandvibez
The Vikings are like the Polynesians of the Atlantic. Brave intrepid explorers braving the high seas, and discovering unknown lands far off into the horizon. Amazing.
  • As I am Icelandic this was a very fun to watch. Many of the pronunciations were correct( minus the accent).
  • @qbslug
weird how the descendants of vikings produced the most peaceful country
  • Icelandic may be the most badass European language. I love looking at your guys words. This is from an American who has learned Spanish and can speak conversationally in Portuguese and Indonesian. I love you guys Iceland ❤. If your country wasn’t so expensive to travel to I’d go in a heartbeat

I loved the point with the last names, but I must say, depending on the name it could bend. So for example ; Bjarki, it would be Bjarkadóttir, because Bjarkidóttir is not correct Icelandic. Same goes for me, my dad’s name is Tjörvi, which would make my last name Tjörvadóttir instead of Tjörvidóttir. Some people can also choose to take their mothers name, this is most of the time when the kid is born and the parents decide that the kid will take the mothers name but some people, including my friend, changed their last name from their fathers to their mothers! For example ; Guðrún, Guðrúnardóttir. Hope this helps! (If this is incorrect please tell me! Im pretty sure i am correct but if i made any mistakes please educate me on them❤️)

Actually, your Icelandic pronunciation wasn't so bad. I like that you really make an attempt to pronounce the local names appropriately in each video. I think it's a good sign of respect.
  • Poor Barby sounds like he's having a stroke pronouncing these words

YOU FORGOT STEFÁN KARL STEFANSSON AKA ROBBIE ROTTEN
  • I didn’t realise I could speak Icelandic until I reached my 50s. Now I’m fluent in it each time I’m getting off the sofa or putting on my socks.
  • Barbs, I'm so proud of how you handled those icelandic names. Bravo, my friend 👋👋👋
