  • Just to add to it...if you have the Respect Your Elders trait, sacrificing an elder will cause a harsh drop in faith. Also if you attack the snail behind the worm vender multiple times he will attack you but if you win he will give a devotion shrine
  • It’s one of those games that you go into to play for 20 mins, and then realise 5 hours have passed

Great tips! I actually let my old die and built graves and held funerals for them. It essentially makes a devotion farm, since your followers will pray at all the graves and it also increases their loyalty. Loved this game and the recent patch fixed pretty much all of my issues with it.
  • Resurrection is your best friend in this game you can keep your followers leveling up making them more and more useful for missionary missions and taking with you as demons in the dungeon
  • You’re not kidding about the lumber! I struggled a bit, but I got the lumber mine as soon as I could. Great tip about the dissenters as missionaries! I’m gonna try that.
  • I found that it was a good idea to wait a couple in-game days between recruiting followers. If you indoctrinate multiple followers on the same day then they might all die on the same day as well and that causes all kinds of issues.

Only do rituals when necessary since bones are very easy to run out of and the only way to get them is to grind the dungeons. Also don’t be afraid of building new things, you will figure out their usefulness later. Also as soon as possible, build a lumberyard and quarry and regularly rebuild them when they break down, gives you a good constant flow of resources after the early game when there is no more trees or rocks to get resources from.

Get a summoning circle as it’s nice to have some back up in fights. Pair that with revival and you can pick 3 followers with demons you like, then keep reviving and levelling them up so your back up can keep improving.
  • Man, I set up districts in my village by theme, put walls up, roads, lampposts. The districts are just different sleeping areas with themes and walls, such as rocky, or boney decorations
  • Instead of the "Respect your elders" trait, choose the "good die young" doctrine. This is unlocked at afterlife three and will give you more devotion from your followers when an elderly follower is sacrificed or murdered, but loose substantially more when they die of natural causes. Combine this with the cannibal trait you can unlock instead of the grass-eater perk, and you can harvest their meat to feed to your other followers for extra devotion while sacrifice is on cool down so you don't lose faith (especially with the belief in sacrifice trait and the murder follower action). Yes, I'm an evil prick. Don't judge me. Not all followers are created equal. And if you can find ways to get the most out of each and every one than you can afford to spend that extra bit of coin early on that will pay for itself in time and not be particularly exclusive while maximizing devotion.

Equip the Golden Fleece by the end of the run you can pretty much one shot every boss. You can recycle necklaces from dead followers. Fishing is a quick way to get coin and food. Play Knuckle-Bones for easy money in the early game.
  • I like to spend the nights I have in the cult hunting spiders, as morsels can make a fairly basic meal (with the downside of 10% chance of causing exhaustion which can go away if you tell the cultist to take a nap). I've discovered that they seem to be drawn to dropped items to attempt to carry them away, so if you kill one others tend to rush towards the spot where the first morsel fell which makes it easy to squish the majority of the ones spawned if not all of them. Also the little glowing 'fireflies' that appear at night too can also be caught for 1-3 points of devotion, just learned that today. Just ideas of things to do if you're spending an overnight at the cult and have nothing to do while waiting for the cult members to get up so you can sermon them. Also, I like to have a follower lined up ready to convert even when my cult is full - that way when one member dies I've another sap ready to fill their bed. ;)

There is also a doctrine where you can use a ritual to revive a follower. It's nice for your favorites, so you don't lose them forever + since some things rely on the level of your follower (like mission success rate and how well they help you on a run as demons) you can continue to level up the followers you like ^^
  • Okay, so, here's my FAVORITE strat. You get Belief in Sacrifice and Respect Your Elders. You essentially get free devotion for elderly, and then you get more devotion upon sacrificing them - you still get the Belief in Sacrifice bonus! I also like the perk that gives you devotion every day you don't have someone imprisoned.
  • @Ninasanz83
I am seriously addicted to this game, haven’t played anything else since I got it day 1.
  • @Marx1684
This video was excellent. More informative than all others on Youtube.
  • This game is loooks so much fun. I really need to play it, so thanks for the wonderful video and the tips.
  • At the end of the video (shop) is a giant slug. Keep attacking it. It will be a mini-boss fight.
  • Also when you peer to the darkness and the man asked for either followers or half your own heart give him the follower's cuz the half a heart thing is permanent I didn't know this and now I'm missing half a heart forever.
