2 weeks ago I made a video on LankyBox, and ever since then my youtube recommended feed has been filled with some of the most terrible, worst videos all designed for children. However, while yes it is fun to call these videos cringe and to meme on how awful youtube kids is. In this video, I move this cringe to the side and dig deeper into content designed for children. From the downfall of Minecraft Monster School, to the return of Elsagate. This is why YouTube Kids is TERRIBLE

I honestly remember the old Monster School. Whenever it was girls vs boys, we’d bet on who would win and we were absolutely entertained by how simple and fun it was. Then we noticed it start to devolve into something horrific and mostly not even for kids as we clicked on the wrong one (now my memory’s a little fuzzy) and saw a pigmen draw something censored and then cuss out Herobine when he got an F. We were horrified and almost immediately shut the video off. Our poor, Minecraft obsessed selves didn’t need to see that.

To be honest, I’m honestly just convinced at this point that children shouldn’t be on YouTube if they’re under the age of 13, or social media for that matter. These videos & tiktok are designed to make children stupider & something must be done about it! I’ve also heard on another YouTube channel that people who have watched elsagate as kids, have said that got fetishes from it, when they grew up.

Thankfully when I was a kid all I got on YT kids were episodes from random shows lmao Edit: I also forgot to mention Spongebob also
  • @yairsense
I swear I'm making sure my kids grow up on good shows like old spongebob and other classics before I ever show them YouTube kids.

Sometime ago my 3 year old cousin who was addicted to YouTube kids came to live with us with his entire family and every minute was YouTube kids, Eventually I was annoyed so I forced him to watch good content and old ones such as Smosh, Markiplier, jacksepticeye and all other ones and eventually he stopped watching YouTube kids and was thankfully watching OG content and just yesterday he thanked me for showing me this kind of content and was saved from the YouTube kids addiction.Oneless child saved from hell

Recently I've done an internship at a primary school. And I was quite shocked on how those kinds of Youtube videos have influenced the children. I knew about it but didn't expect it to be that bad. The children wanted to play "Rainbow Friends//Poppy Playtime/Garden of Banban" etc. with me on the playground. But even worse was how sexualized some of the kids perceived the world. I can only speak for myself, but when I was 6/7 years old I did not see everything so sexualized. A group of boys would constantly kick each other and make weird comments about it hurting in their balls. Or some were moaning constantly in a very very suggestive way. Some children even asked me very inapproriate questions/made inapproriate comments. That grossed me out. There was a lot more going on that shocked me, but whatever. I do think it's alright to entertain children. But this goes way too far and isn't just entertainment. This is quite serious from my point of view and I'm glad you've tackled this topic! Thank you :+)

Honestly kids aren’t cruel the toddlers are. Adults are forgetting what’s it’s like to be little like a butterfly they forget what’s it’s like to be a caterpillar.

The guy who created skibiti toilets created a masterpiece but he also created a monster on YouTube kids

Im glad someone is finally talking about caylus, he literally jumps onto every trend and milks it to death
  • I used to only be able to go onto YT kids because it was supposed to have safe content, but the stuff on there rotted my brain far more than whatever slop I can find on here. Glad I didn’t go on too much

youtube doesn’t allow bullying while yt kids allows SEX and DRUGS

I was lucky as a little kid, i watch gaming channels as a kid that weren't for kids but was a amazing part of my childhood and i still watch most of them. (not all of YouTube videos were that i saw as a kid, but yeah, i never seen the cursed stuff luckily.)
  • Sadly, people and large companies care more about making money than making quality kid's content. It's a real shame, kids don't even have their own websites anymore (i.e. a website like Neopets, which, yeah, is still up, but has heavily degraded in quality and more so caters to adults with nostalgia than anything). The fact of the matter is, the internet has changed a lot since us around 30 year olds were kids, and every website is being forced to make a lot of big decisions simply because kids are swarming over social medias like YouTube and tumblr and twitter rather than websites entirely safe for them (which are few and far between). I just wish kids had their own places on the internet, I'm tired of all these stupid rules websites are being forced to make all because kids are using them. But, a lot of selfless companies/people with a lot of money would need to be involved to make any positive changes for us, and until then, kids will continue to lose their attention spans to these moronic videos.
  • Only the finest cartoons for me when i was a kid. Oddly enough i never seen a lot of the awful shows growing up. Even looking at the time slots. Maybe i was lucky.
