1977 - Giants at Cowboys (Week 2) - Enhanced CBS Broadcast - 1080p/60fps

HUGE UPGRADE here. A day after posting my initial 1977 Giants/Cowboys 'improvement' (which still had major issues because it was a pretty subpar recording), I became privy to a MUCH better source copy, which I took and did my usual enhancement procedures on. You can see the before and after shots from this new source here -- https://imgbox.com/g/DPCfZJ89rL -- With this vastly superior ENHANCEMENT now posted, I have removed the inferior version from my channel.

  • HUGE UPGRADE here. A day after posting my initial 1977 Giants/Cowboys 'improvement' (which still had major issues because it was a pretty subpar recording), I became privy to a MUCH better source copy, which I took and did my usual enhancement procedures on. The color is SO much better on this one and there was no videotape noise along the top, and no hiss to the audio this time around - just a MUCH cleaner source, which makes a world of difference in the end result. The commercials weren't cut out in this version, but the game still ends at the exact same spot midway through the 4th quarter. 1977. WHAT A YEAR! BEAUTIFUL WOMEN, cars, music, movies, beer, SNL first cast, my mom and dad were alive, I had a car, and on top of all that: THE CHAMPIONSHIP DALLAS COWBOYS! πŸ† πŸ† πŸ† πŸ†πŸ†πŸ†πŸ†πŸ†πŸ†πŸ†πŸ†
  • Brad Van Pelt lived around the corner from me when I was a kid. Good guy, gave out full size Hershey bars for Halloween.

As much as I've always detested the Cowboys, this team was truly fun to watch, on both sides of the ball and one of the greatest teams of all time. The fact that they had the most innovative and distinctive offense of that era and that it was designed by the same defensive coach who created the 4-3 and the flex defenses showed the absolute genius of the great Tom Landry. BTW, the quality of this video is unbelievable, and it's almost like watching it live. You're doing the Lord's work Dave Volsky!!!

The colors are brilliant! I grew up watching black and white TV, so I missed out on the aesthetics of the bright uniform colors and the orange graphics against the green astroturf. Very pleasing to the eye!

Love how Pat and Tom just call the game. They don't go into every players life history and what their grandmother did in high school.

Gotta love the gratuitous cheerleader shots. Thought the boys in the booth were going to have to be hosed down. 😁

That may never be duplicated again. A team that can have 12 rookies on a team and still make the Super Bowl and win it. That says a lot about how good Tom Landry and his entire staff and the GM were. Doesn't hurt to have the foundation they already had developed to groom those rookies to be at their best. Size along with speed, Dallas was ahead of their time. I often wonder had Parcells been the Giants coach going against Landrys Cowboys of the 1970s how soon before the Giants even the playing field. I remember when Scott Brunner was the Giants QB, because Simm struggled to stay healthy in his early years.
