Biden's Supreme Court Changes in Reminder of Term

President Joe Biden is set to call for major Supreme Court reforms Monday, according to a White House official, a move that would make him the first sitting president in generations to back seismic changes to the way the nation’s highest court operates.

Biden’s election-year push comes amid deep unpopularity for the high court but stands little chance of going anywhere. He will call for a constitutional amendment stripping the president of immunity for crimes committed while in office, term limits for Supreme Court justices, and a binding code of conduct for the high court, the White House official said.

Article 3, Section 1 of the Constitution says “The judges, both of the supreme and inferior courts, shall hold their offices during good behaviour, and shall, at stated times, receive for their services, a compensation, which shall not be diminished during their continuance in office.” The language about “holding offices during good behaviour” has been interpreted to mean that the only way federal judges can be removed from office is if the House of Representatives impeaches them, and the Senate convicts them, of “treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors.” Only fifteen judges have ever been impeached (that is, formally accused by the House of Representatives) and only eight have been convicted and removed from office. For practical purposes, any judge who does not commit a crime (or do something equally bad) has “lifetime tenure” and will stay in office until he or she dies or voluntarily steps down. And, as the provision says, Congress and the President cannot retaliate against judges by cutting their salaries. So....Biden cannot impose term limits. It's unconstitutional. Try again Obama....this is where this is originating from. I assure you Biden isn't behind this. Only the "front man".

He has lost his mind. Why are you even reporting this crap?
  • Joe tell your advisers to change the constitution before interfering to members of the Justices of the US Supreme Court.😂😂😂
  • What a Joke! Let's try and sabotage the supreme court before we leave office just because we think we have that power... the supreme court isn't changing at all. Let's go Brandon, it's past your bedtime 😴

I have to wonder who's really making the decisions at this time. It seems to me it should be put up to a vote by the people of the United States
  • @TruckerRo
He should alter the one that stop presidents that's not competent enough to stand trial and prosecution for their crimes but can still stay in office as president! He should revise that one ASAP
  • If Brandon is incapable of running for reelection, how is he capable of governing right now?
  • @nancyast5717
Don’t forget the president is not of sound mind. Stop using him and let him end his career with some dignity
  • This type of legislation needs to be settled at the poles not in the People’s house!
