Drummer: I better set a tempo before this audience gets out of hand.
  • @HerenBass
Let's also take a moment to appreciate that someone transcribed this to perfection, too.
  • @BillPelican
I was there in the audience that night. It was so funky that the everyone in the front 3 rows broke their necks. RIP to those who died that night.
  • @chrispysaid
it is UNREASONABLE how tight this dude's groove is
  • @ExtraFancy96
There have only been a handful of big bands that have had a bass player be so front and center and also known by everyone in the audience. Despite all that, Joe is still underrated and relatively unknown by the general populace which is a shame. He is a generational talent.
  • @vgbondarev
Amazing to think Joe Dart invented the bass and then went on to popularize it by forming Joe Dart and the Joe Darts.
  • @gazzwars5355
For anyone who might be worried - It's okay, the bass is over 18.
  • @RyanPMcGowan
The entire band coming in at the end again is one of the most impressive things I've seen musicians do.
  • @joslennon03
Joe isn’t ruthless with his solos like this anymore, I enjoy his new solos but these Jazz bass days were something else
  • @lwo7736
For those of you that don't know, that was an active bass, funded by government subsidies.
  • @UOFKfan100
Lmao Theo came in so clutch at precisely the correct moment on the drums to keep this legendary groove on time right as Joe transcended to levels of funk the audience couldn't yet comprehend. Right when the clap along was about to fall apart🤣
  • Damn, joe dart is legendary. One of the best modern bassist out there right now
  • @GaryGiggles
You can see Theo's sudden realization of where Joe was going, followed by all of them just reveling in the fact that they are having a legendary jam session.
  • @Swalexbass
One thing that’s not mentioned enough is Joe’s insane stamina in his hands. Playing lines like this at that tempo while digging hard with his right hand is a real treat to watch!
  • how the F... did anyone manage to transcribe music notation to that? Mind blowing solo, phenomenal video. Outstanding work.
  • @Holygiant
I think if I were in the room for that drop at 2:00 I would make sure to die as soon as possible because it doesn't get any better than that.
  • @swampsofhome
Wonderful job on the transcription. Most people don't have an idea of the work behind this.. Good on ya!
  • @half_chub
the sheer amount of FONK this guy exudes is absolutely insane. i feel like being in his presence might increase my skill

the fill @ 1:11 is life affirming. it awoke my uncle from a deep coma and got my sister off of a terrible drug addiction. the ways in which the 1:11 fill has changed my life cannot be overstated.
