The sony has the clearer sounding mid range, the clarity on instruments are more pronounced than the jbl This means that if you are listening to rock , classical music, country, funk and pop , the sony will sound better, If you listen to rap, r&b , hip hop , the jbl will sound better. Jbl has the deeper bass, for me personally bass alone is not the most important thing , i actually have a party box 200 and i use that for more bass heavy music I have an xg500 currently, but if i was looking for a new portable speaker, i would pick the sony ult field 7 over the jbl You get more features, you can plug in a mic for karaoke, you can plug in a guitar if you have an electric guitar, you have rgb lights that can be customized The ult field 7 is a swiss army knife for portable speakers , you cant do any of the above with the jbl, you can just play music. I i had to cough up 500$ its the sony i am getting even though i wont pay 500$ for either of these in reality, i would wait for a sale.

I am going to sound like a JBL fanboy but let just wait till the JBL boombox 4. But I do agree that the Sony sound better from this video even though I love JBL.
