This was a VERY helpful review. Thanks!

I just got a 21" spring-loaded baton and really like it. Real quick and I don't hurt my shoulder trying to snap it out. That would limit how hard and how many times I could swing. I'm stuck in a wheelchair and ex-Navy and am really vulnerable. Like in "Unforgiven" when asked why he carried 3 guns when he had one arm?: "If I die it ain't gonna' be for lack of shootin' back." I could easily remove a few teeth opening this thing as I Tased whoever tried assaulting me or someone in my vicinity.

@TheBigDowdy Most states require you to have a concealed carry permit to carry a gun, baton or knife that is concealed.
  • @TheBigDowdy
@ssadriank I understand that, but the point I'm trying to make is that it isn't as easy to use or collapse as some of the better made batons, and if you slam this particular baton on to the cement to collapse it, it ends up bending all over again. Anyways, since this video, the baton's become a show piece, haha. But thanks for the comment.

First off, The ball at the end is not for hitting blocks of wood or cement, that's why it bent and to close it you need to either hold it by the front grip on a 45 degree angle and then hit the ball lightly on the ground or hold it with your finger tips and bring it to the ground... Basically you need the friction locks to close on it. See knowing how to use a weapon is more important then actually owning one. Countering a Baton is easy BTW, closer you are, lighter the impact.

@TheBigDowdy I don't know why you're complaining about it being hard to close, if you've got an ASP you gotta hit it on the ground before it'll go back in. Plus, it should be tighter than that so it doesn't collapse on impact. It also looks too loose on opening, so i suggest adjusting the spring in the bottom so if you hold it upside down and give it a light shake it won't expand ;)

@94phenom I'm not sure, it all depends on your local laws and restrictions.
  • @TheBigDowdy
@shoesandko2 I think they make a 16 or 18 inch that shouldn't be too hard to conceal.

I bent my ASP baton, but i've been really rough with it, so i don't blame, just very heavy wear, it's alot better then anything ive used before though.

I don't think YouTube user lamoene was trying to identify the source of the uploader's weight, rather he was suggesting a means to rectify it.
  • @mariacomesfrom
u can get one off internet from different country . I just got myself a 26'' one .
  • @princeken322
And my point being it should be about the baton not the owner.
  • @123GoBrits
I bought a 26 inch one but I can't decide if I should exchange it for a 21. It puts more distance between me and bad guy but takes a stronger wrist to mobilize that leverage quickly. I can't find anyone discussing he difference between 26 and 21 but this makes me glad I got an ASP lightweight version as high price as it was. Any points on 21 v 26?
  • @TheBigDowdy
@sebastiancamilo14940 As I previously stated, it was about $20-$30.
  • @TheBigDowdy
@griffinlloyd11 Yeah, I know, this baton and another knife were the last thing I'll ever order from them again.
  • @IcelandicBeast
That's how you're supposed to close it, by hitting it on cement.
  • @hjake46
I got mine 3 days ago, 26' impact by budk. It's hard to close and slapping it straight down damages my floor and the baton itself, any tips/techniques? Thanks. Great Video.

@cghost999 No, there's really no excuse. It's a freaking owl. It could have SCRATCHED him. All he had to do was hit it a little bit and run away. He has no justification for carrying that weapon. It's not safe for anyone. He should not have been so close to the owl... Is he some kind of bird tamer or expert? Obviously not, he got attacked and accidentally killed the freaking bird. Now that Owl's babies have probably starved to death and have been eaten alive by another animal :(
