Police in Bangladesh say they have gone on strike, as the country grapples with its biggest political crisis in years. The Bangladesh police association has apologized in a statement for what they called the violent attacks on innocent students during mass protests. They say they were forced to open fire. This comes after parliament was dissolved following the ouster of long-time prime minister Sheikh Hasina. Students who led the uprising say they will not accept an army-led government.

Most of the recent violence that are now occuring by opposition parties, chatroleauge and bandits also people who have overwhelming grudge for the awamileague supporters... Regular students & Madrasha students with the military's help are now providing protection to the people who are facing lack of protection...

This news report didn't explain what the issues are or what the different factions are fighting for.
  • Next time you want to report a real news talk to someone in that country, not some broad sitting in New York running policy analysis on behalf of interest groups. As an eyewitness on the ground, I can tell you that the situation is completely normal. Except for few minor incidents, the country is operating smoothly under self obedience and citizens are celebrating their newly found freedom.
