Voice alerts could be more helpful in some circumstances... "Caution: robot in motion", "Attention: robot nearby", "I need your clothes, your boots and your motorcycle", that sort of thing.

Atlas is now able to use a team of Spots as sled dogs.

Very cool how spot learned to open doors on his own just like a velociraptor.

I'd say this video also represents a new level of confidence for Boston Dynamics.

I'm not even a customer, but it's so cool to see how fast this tech is advancing. It's like reading sci-fi, except with a lot more 'sci' and a lot less 'fi'.

Can you please make a giant spot with saddle seating for 2 ?
  • @LadyMelmo.
Spot is the main reason I wish I owned a factory.
  • I saw Spot rob a local bank the other day, it was the cutest thing ever

12:40 You can tell by the scratches on the door they've been working for ages to make this work!

I love so much how they present their product, they explain over and over again how much this will help the customer and even add what is desired by the customer. They are careful with their designs and want people to understand that it is amazing while still being an early product.

12:45 Spot should be making sure the door has properly latched behind it. This is necessary for both fire safety and physical security. Ideally, maintenance would ensure that every door would close and latch correctly on its own every time, but we all know that tasks like that tend to fall to the bottom of the priority list when humans just adapt their behaviour to work around the problem.

Important question: do the new lights allow for disco mode?

As a disabled veteran, I’d find it useful to have the future Spot for certain tasks and object manipulation. It would enable a certain amount of independence and peace of mind for my spouse care-giver and children. Let’s see where BD can take this developing technology. Very cool
  • Anybody else think “Raptors” when they saw Spot open the door for itself? Seriously, awesome work guys. As a retired HVAC guy, I love the idea of spot listening for abnormalities in mechanical rooms.

As someone who has a use case for this technology and an affected team, I truly hope they are looking to develop Atlas for this as well. Most of my sensors are remote anyway, what I need is confirmation and, crucially, something that can interact with infrastructure designed for humans, especially carrying large heavy items that require two support points. That would be game changing for us, and save a lot of people many an unhappy drive on site in the middle of the night to sort out issues.

If there ever was a pup to cheer us up it's Spot.
