I too live in Maryland and have similar soil to you and I also have these ant infestations all the time and I didn’t realize that they damaged my garden, but as time passes on, I definitely believe they do and I’ve been wanting to get rid of them safely! ❤ thank you for sharing this info. i have never seen so many ants in all my life. 😡they are in the garden, pots, raised beds, all over my porch. climbing all over plants, trees. living inside of empty pots, piles of cardboard; bascially they are in/on Everthying on the ground. they even climb onto my tables and get into my pots and seedlings. i almost wanted to give up until ....BAM .... you posted the most helpful video. i will be giving this a try. thank you for your expertise and hard work. 😁 Btw.....i noticed they are really attracted to the plants that have aphids on them. trying to get rid of aphids with a soapy water mix. but that also seems like a losing battle.

Worked great! Had it a little to wet the first batch and just turned to syrup on the sun. 2nd try not to wet and kept it shaded.
