⏱️ Timestamps ⏱️
00:00 - Intro

00:46 - With seemingly more companies (Push, Manitou, Intend, ect...) coming out with inverted forks. Do you think they are the future?

01:33 - Can you give me some advice on how to make my old RockShox Judy XC
(2000) more comfortable/how to service??

04:10 - How come nobody released a bead-lock wheel yet? For DH of course
PS: If any company sees this and goes through with the idea I would love a free wheelset pretty please

07:25 - I had a WTB Trail Boss and after 4 months use I found it deflating through the week so serviced it with a refresh of sealant but the fresh kept leaking through the sidewall of tire, still plenty of life in the tread, so I dropped in a tube. Would removing old dry sealant have caused the issue?

09:24 - I have a 2014 Canyon Spectral with 2014 FOX 32 Talas forks. Can I get away with putting new technologies in it?

10:57 - Want to get a Saracen Ariel 80 pro but 180 travel is a tad too much for me, would lowering the travel evenly front and rear affect the geometry badly? (I chose this bike cuz I love the green it comes in)

Love that he is doing this in the wild :) Also, a very good, natural presenter. He is not “presenting”, he is talking to somebody on the log
  • I just put a Dorado on my V10... can't wait for the mountain to open, I used to love my 2002 Shiver

Sorry for the rant, I can't express how correct, informative and enjoyable you boys are, and enjoy every minute of geeking out with ya'll. You all remind me of the great moto magazine editors of the 90's. Keep doing you cause we all enjoy and appreciate ya'lls efforts at giving back to our community with your knowledge. Thank YOU!

I still have my 2000 Foes DHS with the Foes F1 inverted fork! The bike and fork were incredible for their time!
  • @uriteruel
I own a lefty fork and man I love ir so much... No maintenance problems in my experience for now and the riding experience is sublime. Stiff, plenty of feeling... great overall fork.

I'm running 3 bikes with mid '90s Rock Shox Judys or Indys, and still have some Halson inversion forks (1" steerer). There's someone on the Retrobikes forum who manufactures elastomers for them.

I’ve run to the problem one of your viewers mentioned where I have removed the old sealant to add new sealant. When the tires was inflated it was seeping out of the sidewall. My particular tires are the Specialized 2Bliss line. They are a pain to set up for that reason. Once they are through the tire does great.

2014 Fox Talas is still a nice fork, still a fair competition to modern 30...34mm forks. Rather depends on the damping cartridge if you have performance or factory build. And to be fair, that was a somewhat pivotal year in tech. Bike in question has thruaxles, shorter stem, routing for the dropper and most probably 29 inch wheels (depends on the size). Now try upgrading something mainstream from 2013 - pretty much everything goes to bin

You mean the shivers iv had in the shed for 20 years are coming back into fashion 😂
  • @Chops00
Look at the weights of all the upside down forks. They’re heavier than DH forks. Most pushing 3kg.
  • For the tire sealant question: I recently bodged a tubeless setup with a non-tubeless tire and rim by using that bucket technique. The tire was leaking air out of the sidewall and bead for about a day before it sealed. Just be patient with it and keep the tire level and rotate every so often. It also may have helped that I used double the recommended amount of sealant to ensure there was enough to get everywhere. For anyone curious: it’s a Fincci clincher tire from Amazon on a standard aluminum Specialized “tube only” rim (schreader valve hole).

After many a watched episodes, this one has me at, “if Owen’s flavor is not in the mix of GMBN, then my utmost loyalty to GMBN may be have to be held in a competitive state. But this one of Owen has me at suiting up in GMBN jersey to represent my loyalty!” You had to be there, “but if you really want the green bike, then Orbea have a way to pair with geometry. Sacrificing geometry and need vs favorite color: take home not really a tradeoff for ride safety.” 🤷🏻‍♂️
  • @Minionps5-
how did he not mention the shivers when he started talking inverted forks?
  • @KaizersPOV
3:32 so the Lead weights on DH bikes make sense to me now. Thanks! you learn something every day.

#AskGMBNTech As age progresses so does presbyopia and i can't read my head-unit anymore. Has anyone of you ever tried stick-on lenses with those cool-looking and expensive bike-glasses? Love the show, keep up the spirit!!
  • @robbijay
#askgmbntech. Hey guys love the show and watch all the videos. How long do MTB tyres remain supple for before they should be replaced regardless of tread depth? I have a 2019 Giant Stance with the original Maxxis Ardent tyres on and at the weekend I had a pathetic slow speed crash in the mud but dislocated my shoulder and fractured my collar bone so now I’m not riding for ages. Bike just washed away in the mud and I had no control so I’m choosing to blame the tyres instead of myself! #BadWorkmenBlameTheirTools

#AskGMBNTech half of the pistons on my brake caliper (sram code r) are pushed out more than the other side which makes the pads rub and make noise. I've tried lubing the pistons with dot fluid but that only made it switch side. Should I replace my brake caliper?
