For the glass toilet stall, I would just sit there and make eye contact with anyone who walks past while letting it rip. You have to assert dominance sometimes.

I love that you people shine the light on the world's mental gymnastics.
  • For the hotel room that promised a larger "TV", I would immediately ask for a refund and I would stay at another hotel.
  • My mom is a graphic designer and she said the #1 rule of designing is function. These are clearly people who don’t actually know how to properly design, which is just sad

    "Ya'll playing full-court or half-court?' "Uh... 7/8 court"

There's a lot of anti-homeless architecture around us. It's pretty crappy how we as a society kick people when they're down.

The unbinded textbook, at least you can put it in a folder/binder along with notes and stuff, the real evil part is sometimes they change a couple things and update it slightly, and issue it as a new edition which is much more expensive

If I was scammed by any of this stuff, I'd instantly demand a refund. If I pay for a sandwich, I expect to get what I pay for. Same with the TV. I would actually demand that they upgrade my room, or give me my money back, and go stay elsewhere. Screw them getting one over on me: I'd make sure I got my money's worth. That's why you should keep your receipts. Make a fuss until you are treated fairly. If they wont agree? Then you report them to the Fair Business Bureau or something similar. They will usually back down and give you what you actually paid for, rather than risk being hit with heavy fines.

I just recently bought some caramel filled eggs for Easter. I opened the packaging to see the little paper tray they were contained on was half empty. There was a clear filling showing what you got. 21:35 explains it way better.

Another example of a very commonly used and very misleading sales tactic occurs when advertisers show a photo of their product while using what's called a "hand model". Problem with this is if the model has very small hands, it can send a falsified impression as to whatever size the item actually is! I guess in some cases, size really does matter!

13:20 Looks like they did the wires BEFORE putting it in the wall, then remembered they had to label the thing RIP

As a designer, most times, it's not so much the designer but people who think they can do the designers job because they think it's "easy" AND/OR the developer/upper management/client who want to cut cost wherever they can or trying to meet consumer demands.

The wire bench in the subway in Philly was a single prototype designed to allow both sitting at the ends and leaning in the middle. It's robust and long-lasting and easy to keep clean and doubles as an art installation. It does also deter people from sleeping on it. It was too expensive to mass-produce.
  • Another pretty bad thing related to college textbooks are some come with a code for an online version where you also turn in homework basically forcing you to buy a new copy instead of trying to save money getting a used copy

An AMC theater in my town has "WOMEN" and "MEN" painted outside their restrooms. No problem, that's fine. But one of the theaters when you are exiting, it is a long corridor you need to walk from the theater seating area to main hallway. After the movie ends, staff opens the door so customers can leave the theater. You can see the bathroom as you are walking down this corridor, but you can only see the letters "MEN" (the "WO" is hidden from view due to the door frame). I had my hands full of popcorn and personal items, not paying attention to where I was going, and walked right into the women's room completely by accident. Try explaining that to a police officer.
  • I’m so glad I ditched FB and IG a year ago, I’ve never felt better. 🙏

19:17 Another thing they like to do is force students to be able to use the books for one term. If a student were to repeat a class or have a class that uses the same book, students are forced to rebuy the book. At the end of the term, the student must sell the book at an extreme loss of value whether or not it were binded, and repurchase the same book next semester. If students did not go along with that, they would be thrown out of the class for not being prepared. I can not explain how profoundly it pissed me off the times I had to repurchase the same book five times in a row, as the classes covered different sections of the book, at a price of 250 bucks only to sell them for 15 bucks.
