It’s infuriating how nintendo has billions of dollars to pour into new and better servers and yet they do nothing.

No new - permanent - modes is a massive dealbreaker for me… I also thought we’d have more music by now, besides all this they could’ve dropped the DLC sooner to bring back more players who don’t want to pay £20 for NSO and everyday disconnections

Personally the thing that annoys me the most is the fact that the rank system is completely different and most of the time you will see low rank players going up against S + and X rank so much to the point that you can't even enjoy the game

Another thing that's great about Splatoon: How the dialogue shows the character's personalities, likes, dislikes, relationships with other characters, relationships with enviroment, relationship with events, relationship with players, etc. Basically, Splatoon 3 dialogue is on ANOTHER LEVEL. Even in my video, "My 3 favorite lines of dialogue" Where I only do one for each game, I mention how Splatoon 3 is the best for dialogue. My biggest hopes for Side Order is dialogue that brings Splatoon 3's dialogue even higher.

For map design specifically, I’ve kept thinking to myself: I feel like Nintendo should go back to how they made maps in Splatoon 1 where they just slapped on some random stuff and see if it works. It did. Good maps like Mahi-Mahi Resort, Ancho-V Games, and Urchin Underpass, which had a stage renovation. In Splatoon 2, they wanted to force fights more, which is taking some of the alternative routes away, but didn’t do it too much. In S3, they went overboard in forcing fights. Now there is a heavy lack of flanks and side routes, as previously stated. And the new original maps that are added every season have the similar layout every time.

Number one is true for sure but also I don't play splatoon to be competitive, I play for fun. Fun is dampened for a lot of players when you're getting rinsed by better players constantly

Catalogs feel like chores with how long they take at this point. I’m just going to say it, and that’s the whole reason why I’m im falling out of style with this game. Catalogs were the only reason I really kept going, and it’s kinda upsetting how much I love this game. Along with this game’s hero mode which made me think I was genuinely going insane when playing, so many more questions and so many unresolved answers and it’s driving me NUTS. And with the fact that 3 is the last game continuing the story of Octavio and cuttlefish we’ll never get anything else resolved and I’m going to tear my hair out, NINTENDO PLEASE WHY DO YOU KEEP GIVNG US COOL THINGS AND NEVER DOING ANYTHING ELSE WITH WITH THEM -?! I agree with everything you said, I just wish Nintendo made everything less punishing and more clear,,

I find that it's not the first player who is the host, but rather the player with the best general connection. I have a fast wired internet connection and become the host a lot because of it (I can tell because clams collect faster in Clam Blitz if you're the host), but not having dedicated servers is still unacceptable.

i think the most basic feature missing is more communication in a game that rewards based off of team performance. "this way" is so ambiguous, but damn would it hurt to add 2 extra Dpad options such as "be careful" or "push!!"? coming from someone who prefers playing solo

Gonna be honest, I think another big reason as of why the game is falling off is cause it gets so repetitive so quickly. I'm honestly surprised that some of my comp splatty friends still play the game regularly cause its just gotten so boring and stale for me. At this point I'm just waiting for the dlc to drop or for Nintendo to release a new weapon that I wanna try out.

The fact Nintendo never has any interactions with the community is also part of the reason the game is dying They really want to make this a valid esports, but how are they if they’re not going to be receptive to feedback?
  • @PLAYERGAMING-hx8zl
In my opinion its dying to the casuals like myself that dont get content for 3 months until the next season. But for comp players not so much since the have patches and the meta to look foward to.

My gripes with Splatoon 3 - Nintendo online is required for turf wars and salmon run. I wasn't able to play it for such a long time because I turned 18 and my card got canceled. Over a year later and I had to get my mom to pay for it to play again. - The weapons don't cost cash, making it significantly harder to try new weapons because it's easy waste the licenses which are hard to get. I'm just bad at turf wars which is why this is a problem for me. - There's no area around the place you spawn that keeps invulnerable to enemy attacks, which means you'll just die over and over again once they reach your spawn and camp there. This also can make people not want to play the game anymore as a result of it.

I also would love to complete older catalogs. My schedule doesn’t allow me the time to finish a catalog a season. Like stacking catalogs so you can do that oldest one first and the newer one gets put at the end. This would also benefit people who don’t have constant access to a online membership or enough time to put into splat3

Nintendo is the king of taking one step forward and 500 steps back. I've never seen a company with such questionable decision choices. The problem is, they make really great games, they're just so out of touch on everything else.
  • @themadkat3374
I'd like to add that (likely because the playerbase is so small right now) any new player is going to constantly get stomped on even in regular turf war, meaning that new player has to be okay with alternating between getting spawncamped and hard carried pretty much every match for quite a while. Even if you don't play to win, that's still not fun.
  • @deltalags
games from the last millennium had objectively better netcode than S3 / NSO can provide, "Unreal", a game from 1998 had a tickrate of 30, and could be set to as high as 90, while also using dedicated servers and lag compensation- the fact that a game 24 years later has none of these features speaks to the lack of care or knowledge on the team, it severely affects the playability and fairness of the game
  • @powerpc64
the skill gap from 2 to 3 was crazy for me, i cannot get out of spawn in some matches
  • @Evening451
I love Splatoon and it just hurts seeing Nintendo and the developers making bad decision after bad decision. They can make the servers better and they just don’t. It’s really frustrating
