I hardly doubt the people that can’t seem to watch the whole video will read the description but I’m gonna, Say it again even though I do not like repeating myself. This is not a lifestyle……. You must switch your transfer case into neutral if you are towing an all wheel drive vehicle. Or put the vehicle in neutral….
If you have a switch that allows you to disengage the Transfer case you need to put it neutral, If you were towing for great distances you need to have your driveshaft removed or You need a differential disengagement installed. someone that didn’t watch the WHOLE Video needed to make sure that they told me…. If the transmission is working properly it should be fine to tow the vehicle up to 100 miles but I can’t guarantee that it won’t hurt your transmission.. Like Some of us didn’t already know…….. Thank you person I’m going to leave nameless…

Today we're going to talk about how to use a tow bar, and why this tow bar method can work for just about any vehicle EXCEPT RV TOWING. Using a tow bar is quite easy , but I'd like to explain how and why it works.

So in this video we are picking up a new project for the show called the Yeti Jeep And I thought this would be a good opportunity to show people how I use a Tow bar. And why you could use it on just about ANY type of vehicle. I also explain to you why this tow bar method works and show you that you can tow your car or truck by yourself without buying expensive brackets if you’re only towing it once or twice. This is not a lifestyle though if you’re towing it behind an RV you need to get the correct brackets specifically made and designed for the model that you’re towing but if you’re doing it once or twice I’m sure this will service.

I did not give a visual description on how to place the brackets on different models if they have a curved bumper but if you think about it just put some washers behind the bracket and make sure the bracket is pointed somewhat straight and you’ll be able to hook up the bracket to anything once you remove the bumper cover removing the bumper covers on different makes and models is usually very very similar and rather easy.

Hope you enjoy the video and it gives you more confidence that you will be successful and able to get whatever’s broke down to the place you need to go God bless and enjoy the video

I love the way you said, if someone else can do it. You can too. My Dad always said that. People should have that aditude more these days. Self reliance is the best gift my Dad ever gave me.👍💪🤙

Appreciate the old school style of using common sense and getting it done without paying an arm and a leg. Thanks.

This is an absolutely outstanding video. Friday I have to tow a 3500 lb truck with a 4000 lb truck, and have been calling U-Haul and all kinds of companies trying to rent a tow dolly and they are trying to get me to rent a truck from them saying the tow dolly is not sufficient enough to pull it. It. I looked up tow bars, all kinds of other things. And came across this video when I searched how to connect the tow bar to my truck. Due to your amazing comments about President Trump and how you didn't like him at first. But you did like to feed your family, I am now subscribing. Not only was this a very helpful video for what I needed it for, but I'm a hands-on kind of gal. So this is not intimidating for me at all. Thank you so much for all the information!!! You look forward to seeing many more videos.. EDIT: Shared this on my FB to get you more subs!! Keep up the great work on educating others how to do things themselves and not just pay someone else to do it.. I love learning new things and saving money in the process
  • Driving 6 hours to Mexico for the holidays , I always see a lot of cars in-tow and impressed that they have 2-3 cars all hooked to each other. I am interested in just towing 1 to take over to Mexico, about 365 miles. This video is super helpful!
  • Reminded me of that saying, Who dares wins! Think about stuff, do some research and surprise yourself. I always investigate to see if I can do more myself, pray about it & it is rewarding & gets us more confidence

Great stuff. I actually towed a crown Victoria about 5 years back with one of these and mounted the tow bar attachments under the bumper and accidentally totaled my crown Victoria. It ripped off during a turn and flew into a ditch and it was a slow turn so naturally I’ve been skeptical. But this video made me pretty confident in towing again. Thank you!

I'm turning my 2002 s-10 into a towable camper and had no clue on how to use a tow bar. Thanks to you I'll finally be able to start this project. I plan on gutting the engine bay and interior for storage so I don't think weight is going to be an issue. Thank you for the explanation. Just wish i would have seen this sooner.
  • Great video, man. I bought a new tow bar 15 years ago and never had the courage or need to use it, but I sold my car trailer and now have to tow my small tractor about 15 miles. You have given the the knowledge and confidence to bolt it on and give her a go, at slow speed, anyways. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
  • @jacobgale9213
I watched you video and towed my 92 k2500 home I appreciate the detailed information you give thank you very much
  • @capt.morgan8975
You have answered all my questions about tow bars, thank you very much! I wish you much success!!
  • I used a fence post with a 2" trailer hitch from harbor freight and towed my 89 honda accord 2,300 acrost the US with my VW golf VR6 .It worked perfectly. key in and battery disconnect
  • @joema7886
Very well explained. Thank you for taking the time to put all this together
  • @louisb.6149
“You’re probably smarter than the ones who made it” hit me really hard. Because I remember taking apart my radio once and it was so goddamn messy and cheaply thrown together, now I have a beautiful touchscreen with amazing speakers and microphones. It’s. Nice. Pretty crazy when you really do think about all the things people put into their cars just because car makers aren’t the most foreword thinking individuals lol
  • @EmeyMendez
I found this video really helpful. I have to pull my toyota camry from California to Kentucky, and I've seen people pulling cars, but I had no idea how to install it. Thank you so much for the really detailed explanation amigo.
  • Outstanding video, you explained everything very well! Last year I flat towed my 04 Civic 600 miles with my 05 Civic using a Harbor Freight tow bar on its bumper bar like you showed and magnetic lights on the back and it worked great other than the towed car trying to wander around because its steering and suspension was in bad shape at the time. I'm sure now that I rebuilt the 04's steering and suspension and it drives correctly it would tow well if I ever need to tow it again.
  • @tonycavez
about 10 years ago my VW golf snapped the T belt and cost me 350 to tow it home that pissed me off so i thought i have to build a tow bar , i bought a tow bar like that from harbor freight plus I extended it with square tubing and a flat stock piece welded to extend out at the end to sit above the control arms then bolted steel chain at the end of the square tube , bolted 2 3500 pound straps to each arm i loop the chains around the control arm and hook the straps to the chains , and off I go in 10 minutes, not only have i saved a lot of money since I also made some
  • @RD-xh9ss
Nice job Clay. I was thinking of getting a tow bar. Now that I know I can make it work, I will get one. Great explanation about AWD and 4x4 issues on tow dolls. Did not know that. Tow bat is the way to go. Thx. 👍👊
  • @simonjlea
Thank you Clay, you seem to be the only one explaining how this will work I hope you have saved me a lot of stress :~)
