Dragon type Pokemon are the most powerful and rarest out there... but can they beat Pokemon SoulSilver's ULTIMATE challenge!?
We've done some hard Pokemon challenges in the past, but usually they were a solo Pokemon challenge run. What if we still did a really difficult challenge... but with a full team using hardcore nuzlocke rules, and with only one type? Today we find out: can I beat a Pokemon SoulSilver Hardcore Nuzlocke with only Dragon types? No items and no overleveling!

Monotype Hardcore Nuzlocke Ruleset:
(1) If a Pokémon faints, it must be permanently boxed or released.
(2) Only the first type-specific Pokémon encountered in each Route/Area can be caught.
(3) No Legendaries/Mythicals, duplicates, or same-evolution-line Pokémon can be caught or used. If a duplicate is encountered, the next unique type-specific Pokémon encounter can be caught.
(4) Additional Pokémon may be caught for the purpose of HM use, but these may not be used in battle at any time during the run.
(5) No Items can be used in battle (Held Items are allowed).
(6) Party Pokémon levels are limited to the highest level Pokémon of the next Gym Leader or Elite 4 Member. So long as your Pokémon are at or below the level cap when the Gym Leader/Elite 4 Member battle starts, they can level up mid-battle.
(7) "Set" Battle Mode must be used at all times.
(8) No connecting with other games for the purposes of importing Pokémon, Items, etc.

I for one wouldn't mind seeing more HG/SS runs with national dex. I think the added challenge to the E4 is entertaining and a good trade off for more encounters.

The national dex at the start of Johto seems pretty cool, especially with the updated elite 4.

Having just started a HeartGold nuzlocke myself for the first time, I actually learned that the Ruins of Alph have an oran berry available that's accessible with the Escape Rope from the Sprout Tower. Just thought I'd share this piece of info, as this can be quite useful for getting through the first gym more easily

Fun fact about Trapinch having more base attack than Vibrava. I'm pretty sure it's referencing the real world Antlion, whose larval form is more powerful and active than the fully grown adults who just live to pass on their genes to the next generation

You really went the extra mile with the nicknames. All different dragons in the Harry Potter Universe apart from Draco, but still makes sense. Love it!

Funny how Johto has so few Dragon types yet they chose to include both a gym leader and league champion who specialize in dragons. Great playthrough. Would like to see XY with only Bug types.

There was something different about this run.....I felt emotionally attached to your team, and it felt like a true story with you getting as far as you did with the members you had available. This video is a masterpiece! Easily my favorite. Keep it up, Silph! 👑👑

i see you are definitely not affraid of making some more daring modifications to your game to allow some more diverse runs silph. awesome and suprising video, and again, you REALLY love HGSS huh. your videos are big part of the reason i gave pokemon another chance after i dropped the series before even finishing my first ever playthrough on emerald because i thought they werent very interesting, and im always happy to seee your uploads, keep up the good work my friend.

Really satisfying to see Clair's Kingdra get 1shotted. That sore loser of a Gym leader has the GALL to try and invalidate your win against her when she literally has a guard keeping people out of the Dragon's Den, the only place in the base game where you can catch a Dragon type, the only type her Kingdra is weak to.
