5:13 "they think their job is to stop us from getting sued, and I think their job is to make sure that when we are sued, we win"

What I love about john is how non hollywood he comes across. He is one of the biggest host in television and still comes across as that cool guy you know that happens to have a TV show. The way he carried on to entertain during Covid with no set and no audiences for months and still made us laugh so hard was masterful. I'm always happy to see him get a W

"there is no tastier hand, than the one that feeds you.". Another classic to categorize from Sir Toucan 🙌

John is the only person who makes me immediately click on an interview clip. Pure joy start to finish always

I love John Oliver. He's a big kid in a man's body, and yet he's one very smart educated man. I always look forward to his show and I'm in Canada.

I saw John Oliver perform for a bunch of University of Chicago students, and I laughed so hard I nearly died. His sense of humor PLUS how incredibly well read he is just makes him devastatingly funny.

Only John Oliver could do entire shows on subjects like civil forfeiture, mortgages or legal guardianship in elder care (for 11 seasons!) and win awards, acclaim and an almost universal admiration. Love that dude.

Lol I swear if HBO ever gets rid of John Oliver I will riot

John is the reason I keep HBO. The half show he puts on YT is not enough. I need the whole episode.

My son adores John Oliver. I generally watch LWT episodes the day after they air, but I assumed that my son wasn't paying attention because he was 5.
    Oh, how wrong I was!
Like me, he has autism and is prone to echolalia (repeating EVERYTHING). We were in my car and he recited an ENTIRE episode of LWT, right down to John Oliver's facial expressions and gesticulations, and the swear words. It was hilarious and a bit worrisome too. I figured it was a phase and he'd move on to a new thing to be excited about. Well, he's almost 12 years old and his love of "Joliver" is as strong as ever! He knows that he's not supposed to swear, except during "Joliver time," when he gets to bask in cussing and knowledge. It's honestly adorable to watch him get so animated and excited about learning something new, even if it's a new way to cuss with class.

By far one of the most delightful guests on any talk show! John Oliver should describe himself as genuine chaos
  • @Diarmuhnd
The only reason I have NOT cancelled my HBO sub is because they have John Oliver.
Kudos John Oliver and the entire Last Week Tonight crew !

I have to admit, I love it every time Bill Maher takes a dig every time John Oliver wins an Emmy bc Oliver’s show is significantly better than Maher’s.
  • How can you not love John Oliver! He is genuinely funny, able to make fun of himself, and makes a point in deeply focusing on serious topics in a short period of time and in a way that we don't see on everyday news. 🥰🥰
  • @DanielMReck
Love that the band performs their own arrangement of the Last Week Tonight theme for John's entrance. Super classy and a lost art from an earlier era of talk shows.

That ONE POKEMON CARD MUST BE HIS FAVORITE ONE. thats so precious
  • @AngelLPena
I love John for his humility and sincerity. There's nothing fake in his character. He's a truly good man, and ashtma-inducing hilarious.
  • @Amaryllis1970
He was genuinely more happy about the Pokémon basket than the Emmy he won. 😂😂
