The founder of Sirius XM satellite radio, Martine Rothblatt now heads up a drug company that makes life-saving medicines for rare diseases (including one drug that saved her own daughter's life). Meanwhile she is working to preserve the consciousness of the woman she loves in a digital file ... and a companion robot. • sis went "let me just *grab some medicine books and M A K E A C U R E T O A D I S E A S E*"
  • She just . . . She went from no knowledge of medicine to developing a cure for a previously incurable disease in just a few years. With no degree or anything. She's must be a genius. A real life Tony Stark or something.
  • @Amanda-kf6do
I don't like how the announcer kept referring to Martine as "he"
  • @hannanaut
It’s funny how we never generally hear much about geniuses like her, how lgbt ppl, ppl of color, ppl of disability, etc., are erased and unspoken of. I hope she gets the recognition she deserves.
  • @pinguenella
I have so much respect for this woman but am I the only one getting Black Mirror vibes from preserving consciousness?
  • I wonder what is stopping this amazing human being from being widely recognize by the public and media I wonder..... i w o n d e r w h y h u h ? ? ?
  • @Ruby-pi4jm
I think she's now who I'd consider the best person in the world. She's literally amazing.

The title of the video sounds like an anime name.
  • @Sebanoe
People like this are the reason the phrase anything is possible exists, in fact in the dictionary where they put the definition progressive her picture should be placed in lieu of the words, she is a transgender person married to a black woman who are thought not to be generally open to the idea, found a remedy to her daughters alignment (which is superhero status right) there and made billions from it, has brilliant mind to create  successful businesses, is working on preserving human consciousness.
  • My interest is piqued, but the real game changer will be making our current conciousness eternal, rather than a clone of it. The whole point is not dying.
  • @Ro-sf1ud
all these transphobic comments and the interviewer using the wrong pronouns are so gross and sad. she is so strong and inspirational <3
  • Whoa, how have I not heard of Martine before? What a life! Amazing lady. Also, Chris, thoughtful as always, I wish there were more TED interviews like this in addition to the talks.
  • @melina3373
This incredible person should be taught about! All of this is so incredible I have no words. I wonder why I’ve never heard of her ? (It’s the trans and wlw erasure)
  • definitely a new idol of mine... what she's doing is absolutely unique and unmatched. I hope that in a few more years she'll finally get the recognition she deserves, because she will be written down in history as one of the most extraordinary minds there ever were.

Martine is my idol, my favorite person, and exactly who I want to be as a person. I cannot begin to express how amazing her story is. She is truly the most brilliant woman I’ve ever seen, and I hope she keeps on going forever, making advances in medicine and technology. I love you Martine! <3
  • What a remarkable human being. They modeled a person living the full expression of themselves, and expressed so many profound ideas. But the statement "race is fiction, racism is real" said in passing is so true.  Wow, what a mind, what a life. A wonderful example of the teaching that "your mind creates your reality".
