Retired 19 years ago. I always liked the "Comfort Cabs" over the noisy SD38's. Also slept in a lot of hot cabooses before we got rooms. Back in the old days.

Those were some close calls. Hose always almost make you dirty r britches. lol. I had a few of those over the years when I was running. I enjoyed the video Mike. Thanks πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘β€οΈ
  • Those kids at the beginning cut it so close. Loved seeing the old analog display panel. Great video and a great view from inside the cab at some of what engineers have to deal with.

Happy Holidays Mike. As others have already mentioned, I appreciate you taking the time to record and post your cab videos. Rail enthusiasts need to see a professional locomotive engineer at work and the skills involved in day to day railroad operations. You have a great personality and the perfect person to make these videos available.

  • @POMPANOJOE
Really cool seeing your view going through Acworth and Kennesaw!
  • @nc4tn
I always hated going through all those little towns with 25 crossings that went nowhere. And with an impatient female driver that couldn’t wait on the train. Lol!
  • @JohnM1774

Super cool video Mr. Barnett! Never knew you were also a firefighter before this!
  • @SD45-ET44AC
I just spent more than 60 minutes watching your videos and wanted to say thanks. I realize buying one of your videos might say thanks in a better way but for now, thanks! Your videos focus on the trains, the railroads and lots of information but unlike some videos your videos aren't just about you with train footage in the rear. Peace!
  • My dad started Penn Central in 73 rail gang,, went to Conrail, then to CSX, became a conductor then Engineer, retired in 2007, passed away in 2009 from cancer. I watch these to see what he did. He use to hate missing my birthday, or baseball games or football games, I remember a few times he'd come home in the middle of the night and watch me sleep but didn't wake me up and I would act like I was asleep. Now I would give anything to sit up and tell him I loved him. He wrote me a letter when he passed saying he would hate when the phone would ring, knowing it was a crew caller calling because he knew he wouldn't see me. I knew he busted his ass so I would get to live a great childhood. Also cool fact, his grand father, my great grand father was a Gandy Dancer.
