We've tested several electric trucks on the Ike Gauntlet, but never one like the Tesla Cybertruck. To see just how well it does, Andre and Kase pitch it against a 5.0-liter gas V8 half-ton truck — a Ford F-150 XLT — and our diesel heavy-duty Ram 2500 Cummins, Trailhound. Here are the tests and the results!

  • Please use the cybertruck in an actual job site. Like a ranch, farm, mining, logging, or maybe an oilfield. Or try to imitate the way people use their Isuzu and Toyota pickup trucks in developing countries. It would be interesting to see how the Cybertruck handle such conditions.

I am not sure how anyone is not bringing up that a half ton with a naturally aspirated engine (no turbos) pretty much did the exact same time as a 3/4 ton diesel truck with a turbo and big torque with the exact same load. I would have to say that 5.0 is pretty damn impressive

Nice to see Kase on this one, he is always knowledgeable and a solid presenter.

Good test - that was interesting. Thx. For the Cybertruck you can set up to use the right scroll wheel for trailer braking - you are not limited to the screen.

The lift and bigger diameter/heavier wheels/tires are the most impactful for towing. They really put more stress on the suspension, drive-train, brakes and chassis. There is also an impact on handling, turns, wind and whatnot. I see roofers around here with huge lifts, huge tires pulling a trailer with 15,000+ of old shingles going to the dump behind them and they really look like death traps going down the road.

When talking about decibel levels, remember that it's a logarithmic scale. Even 10 decibels is twice as loud. 65db is quite a bit louder than 60db

That coyote was impressive. Current own a 2021 with the coyote. I hope they never get rid of it! Great video guys
  • @Jarrett197
Andre, IDK how you do it, but every video you guys produce I’m interested in and cannot unglue my eyes from the screen. Keep up the great work everyone over at TFL!

i just noticed the tesla was in chill mode when they did the acceleration test haha, probably had even more to give.

It says on the Towing and Hauling screen, "Right Scroll Wheel Trailer Brake", "To brake, tilt the scroll wheel to the right.". All you have to do is turn that feature on, on that screen, and then you can tilt the scroll wheel on the steering wheel to the right to engage the trailer brakes. It's probably the most convenient manual trailer brake application method of any truck out there.

As soon as Andre took the hitch cover off of the Cybertruck and I saw how recessed it was, I knew it was going to be an issue. Lo and behold lol.

I rode my Suzuki 1050 over the Ike Gauntlet today. It was pretty cool seeing all the sights I've been seeing in your vids for years. Btw, I can report the bike needed ZERO brake applications on the way down.... Thx for another great vid guys.

Cummins all day for me but i was really surprised how well that Ford did
  • @kybruce1
Amazes me that Tesla engineers did not realize that tire sidewalls would flex and fixed wheel covers would cut into flexing sidewalls
  • @pkt1213
Gotta love it. "Buy this vehicle. It isn't quite finished but we'll send out updates as soon as we figure it out. 10 years wasn't quite enough."
  • @dbeardsley0
That coyote was awesome. I got a 22 F150 xlt with the coyote and max tow. Best truck I've owned
  • @dvandkq
Best description I've heard of the Cybertruck is "Origami El Camino".
  • @GeorgeGeo
IMO Coyote is the best engine for the F150
