Japan's far south - Ogawa Falls and Cape Sata, Kagoshima (鹿児島県雄川の滝と佐多岬)

Published 2024-02-02
Following on from the last video I'm continuing my trip around Kyushu. This was a trip that I took in 2022 and it has taken nearly 2 years to publish these videos.

In this video I follow up on the previous video covering the first half of the day when I visited the Sakamoto Rice Terrace and Sakurajima the most active volcano in Japan. I cover the beautiful scenery in southern Kagoshima on the Oosumi Peninsula and encounter a rich and beautiful landscape that is gradually depopulating.

I explore Japan's declining population and the reasons behind it before taking in the beautiful Ogawa Waterfalls (雄川の滝) revered for its turquoise and green water, a place of true peaceful and stunning natural beauty.

The final leg of the journey is my race before sundown to get to mainland Japan's southern most point, Cape Sata (佐多岬) and explore the hidden connection to my home country, the UK as well as how this connection wraps back around to Japan's last civil war during the Meiji Restoration in 1877. Along the way, the beautiful coastline and views across to Ibusuki and Mount Kaimondake, a volcano that is currently defined as inactive.

Truly it was an arresting finish to the day.

Thank you for visiting my channel and watching.
