This is such a fantastic conversation honestly. Goggins is notorious for very rarely doing this shit and I don't think I've ever seen him be so animated in telling a funny story, him and Chris seem to genuinely get on very well and I'm sure Chris takes that as a very high honour.

He’s been a mentor to me for years, but this has to be one of the best advices he’s ever given.
  • Ask yourself what is going to happen if you do this? and also think the decision through before you make that 1 second decision to quit

Great stuff love the bit about about continuing to suffer -reminds me of the line "the courageous man dies once-the coward dies every day"(or something similar)
  • “I don’t see failure as failure anymore. I see it as my first, second, third attempt.” That’s going stick in my head for a long time.
  • I really dig what he has to say about discipline and grit. And also, when he speaks about people who can't enjoy their lives now because of the moment they failed, I don't think that is a rule. A lot of these people are trapped by and beholden to a ruthless ego, and I don't think the only solution is to never fail. Realizing that that voice is not always telling the truth is huge.

In that moment of struggle or panic on your way to fulfill your mission, calm down, find a moment of stillness to put your logical, thinking brain back into the driver's seat of your body. From here, think rationally about your actions and consequences. Reach into your mental "cookie jar" if you have to (think about times you've gone through similar hardships and how you're more than capable of finishing this task). Remind yourself that you put yourself here. Finish the mission.

I showed my cat a Goggins video. She is still a cat, but I think she enjoyed it.

I've done this approach before when I was going through the last month of pregnancy and during labour. To calm your brain down by controlling your emotions...your mental/thoughts..and focus on the outcome. NOT easy but it really does help to push through whatever pain you are going through. The alternative? You allow your brain/thoughts to drive you crazy in the moment and you lose. So you choose 🤷

Yo bros. If any of you guys are struggling with mental health and this message from goggins resonates.... I would recommend checking out and ACT therapist... What he's saying is called the choice points and it's a super powerful tool to make your life a lot better. 🤓Much love
