For us natives Americans it's huge to actually see a native water tribe cast! I've always identified with the cartoons because of their being based off of arctic tribes in northern Canada and pretty much every native who has seen it says the same thing. The way katara was protected for being a bender and the fire nation killed water benders also played into the fact that natives who practiced their traditions were targeted and either arrested or forcibly assimilated. Yes like in the show! Avatar is so deep and to think it's a kids show! 😂 (you should check out a powwow, I swear you'll never be disappointed. They're intertribal as we say)
