2024 Election: Lake, Gallego set for November battle

Gallego, who faced little opposition from his own party, will now campaign for a seat that was previously blue. The incumbent, Kyrsten Sinema, was elected as a Democrat in 2018, but became an independent in December 2022. Sinema announced in March that she will not be running for re-election.
For the second time in as many years, Kari Lake's name will appear on the Arizona ballot, as she wins the Republican nomination for Arizona's open Senate seat.
Lake, who ran to succeed Republican Doug Ducey as Arizona's governor in 2022 and lost, defeated Pinal County Sheriff Mark Lamb and other GOP candidates for the nomination.
While major news organizations are projecting Lake to win, Lamb has yet to concede.
Lake and Gallego will go head-to-head in November.
