  • @luvajay22
Thank you, Tom for making this. We need more videos giving us knowledge on how to play this game correctly so many different interactions and certain wording, It’s hard to keep track of it all so I appreciate you! 💯💯

A note about the Unchained Souls linking away. While allowing the opponent's monster to become a Link material IS an effect that needs to apply on the target (so it won't work against "unaffected by activated effects"), the link summon itself is NOT considered removal by a card effect. For example, it won't trigger a Raye in the GY, Nightmare Throne or the Ritual Spell of Voiceless. And in cases like Mirrorjade or the continuous spell of Purrely where they mention "an opponent's card" that opponent's card is not the Unchained Soul monster using its effect but the new link summoned card (Rage + Mirrorjade into SP, the card responsible for making MJ activate is SP)
  • Good way to explain, the S:P ruling, some people don't get it. About paidra, I guess the monster are unnafected but their effects are not. No sense but konami and rulings don't make sense most of the times
  • Very informative. Still have to create a tenpai and a yubel deck on edo to test them out.
  • Something to look out for, its pretty simple but i've seen it happen. If a tenpai's effect to synchro summon is cl2, and on resolution of that chain they summon black rose dragon, they will NOT be able to use its effect in a new chain as its summon was not the last thing to occur in the previous chain.
  • Lair of Darkness beats out the Sangen field spell regardless of any ruling question related to the protection effect as Lair makes every monster on board DARK. Sangen Summoning only protects FIRE dragons

This is why I love these videos: you learn something every time.🧠 I never knew changing the effect of a card doesn't affect that card.
  • @colinbrown74
How are you activating Unchained Soul of Anguish during the opponent’s Main Phase 1? This answer is wrong as the Tenpai Field Spell doesn’t protect Tenpais during the opponent’s turn, which is when Anguish activates.
  • @babrad
Another confusing interaction is Sangen Summoning vs D-Barrier. Tenpai player activates Black Rose Dragon with Summoning on the field, opponent chains D-Barrier calling Synchro. While D-Barrier is a card that activates, its effect is a lingering-continuous effect that will negate Black Rose just like a Skill Drain. In our regionals Sangen and Yubel rulings where the number 1 pain the entire day.

My judge at locals told me to activate rise rank up magic force makes me to use two monsters on the field to go into the the new boss monster for Raidraptor
  • @xatuyou8045
The thing is the S:P Little knight ruling only matters if you have a way to not die because otherwise you're doing exactly what the raigeki meant to do and removing your monster so they can kill you.

U can also do it with abyss actors to play playhouse and it swap it

Hey Tom I was at locals last night watching two players; player (a) tenpai player (b) voiceless voice. They were discussing lingering effects on their cards. Player a says the sangenpai trans. Drag. Effect lingers even if it leaves field; Your opponent cannot activate cards or effects during the Battle Phase. Player b says no it doesn’t. Player a says during this weekend judges were ruling it as such. The question is does it linger even after Sangen leaves the field or gets booked? I said it doesn’t after the match but they really believe this the way it works. Next thing that happened, was player b has saffrina ritual using the new blessings of the vv . If the blessing leaves the field does the saffrina keep its battle protection as a lingering effect. I say it doesn’t bc the spell card blessings doesn’t state even after this card leaves the field apply the protect from battle effect. What are your thoughts? Thank you Tom have a safe flight.

its so strange that samsara can change the effects but those effects cant be negated by an ash for example.
  • @redoctober67
The Unchained Soul of Anguish ruling will always tick me off due to the "immediately after this effect resolves." I'm pretty sure Konami intended for it to be a way to bypass protections, TCG being TCG ruled otherwise.

Why tenpai monster can't activate their effect Vs number 38 @MSTTV
  • @babrad
About Nibiru vs Sangen, how would you rule it if there isn't any non Fire Dragon on the field? I've seen cases where Nib activates and does nothing, while others say Nib is an illegal activation in the first place. Due to simulators the first case is very common, but iirc from Super Poly against unaffected monsters the activation is indeed illegal and you can't activate cards doing nothing so i believe this is the correct ruling.
