Do-It-Yourself TRX!

TRX may be beneficial to Swimmers for Dry-Land Training.

Uses For The TRX Include:

- Full-Body Exercise
- Swim-Specific Movements
- Improves Body Awareness, Coordination, and Proprioception

However, equipment may be expensive or unavailable.

This video provides instructions on how to build your own TRX for home use.

You Will Need the Following Items:

- Duffle Bag (with Strap)
- Removeable Handles and Connectors From Exercise Equipment (i.e. Metal Carabiner is Strongly Suggested)
- Door-Fame Pull-Up Bar

Additional Supplies May Include:

- Toilet Paper Roll
- Miscellaneous Strap (Buckles optional)
- Swimsuit

You may proceed to build your at-home TRX by following the steps:

1. Remove Straps From Duffle Bags
2. Removed Handles From Gym Equipment
3. Mount Door-Frame Pull-Up Bar
4. Mount Straps to Pull-Up Bar (N.B. I’m not a Boy Scout, so I’m not sure what type of knot is used. I called it a “double knot.”)
5. Carefully Apply Bodyweight To Straps To Assess Stability of the Apparatus
6. Get Stronger!

Caveats:

- Determine If the Door Fame and Straps are Stable Enough To Sustain Bodyweight
- Strap Thickness May Impact Difficulty (i.e. Too Thin May be More Difficult)
- Avoid Using Plastic (Especially Connectors!)

Per Usual, Questions and Comments are Welcome.
