DON’T BUY A CERAMIC COATING BEFORE WATCHING THIS !! In this video, I answer many questions about ceramic coatings as we try to debunk myths and get a better understanding of this surface protection technology that has been the craze for the past 5 years. What are ceramic coatings? Are ceramic coatings snake oil? Can they only be applied by professional detailers with expensive equipment? What kind of benefits do they provide over the average car wax? Should you get a ceramic coating? All that and more, so stay tuned until the end!

A ceramic coating is a polymer solution that contains silicon dioxide, or silica (chemical formula SiO2) and other elements which once cured, turns into a crystal-clear shell - a nano ceramic coating, or ceramic coating for short. In a nutshell, you can see this as a semi-permanent shield of protection over your car’s paint, protecting it from the elements.

In my opinion, ceramic coatings are currently the best form of paint protection. Coatings can also be applied to paint, glass, wheels, plastic trim, leather, plastics, and pretty much all of your car’s exterior and interior surfaces to keep them looking good for a long time, and also making maintenance cleaning a breeze!

I've put the word out for the Avalon King Armour Shield on a car forum I belong to Pan to show my appreciation for the hard work you do and the specials you're able to get on our behalf. Many thanks to you my friend.
  • Hey Pan! Just bought some GTechniq CSL and EXO top coat for my full size F350 pickup. Put a coat of Optimum Gloss Coat on 3 years ago when I bought the truck and have used various products to help maintain it. What I enjoy about your channel is your thoroughness, attention to detail and honesty. I have no illusions about driving into a brick wall and a paint coating saving the body of my truck. Always enjoy your videos, keep them coming! At this time, the number of car care products is absolutely staggering and hard for the non pro to keep up.. so you really help out with that.
  • There’s confusing information out there about ceramic coatings, so I’m glad to have found this! I’m 73 and buying my very first brand new car in my life…so I want to do things right. This is so helpful and I’ve subscribed so I can keep up. Happy to have found your channel!

I’m a complete novis when it comes to modern methods. Of course I used the bucket and sponge method until I was about 50 years old. Then I started taking my cars to the car washes. I haven’t washed a car since then. I’m retired now and 80 years old, and the new methods excite and amaze me. When I saw this video, I jumped over to the web site for the top rated ceramic coating and bought a kit. My car is relatively new (an all electric Ioniq 5), but in April I had it ceramic coated with a spray product from Walmart. It has a life expectancy of about six months. This is July 29th. Can I use the more protective coating now or should I wait until October? I’m getting ready for my first foam car wash. The temps here have been too high recently and I have direct sun on most of my property. That has delayed my foray into the world of DIY car washing. I have very much enjoyed your videos. Thank you for being so informative .

Just bought a new car and wanted to best protect the paint, You have the best info out there
  • @95Civictuner
Thanks Pan for another very informative video! My biggest takeaway is that there are coating options out there that I could feel confident in applying to my own vehicles. One additional question though. If you’re a person that takes care of their vehicles and regularly maintains the ceramic coating how do you know when it’s time for reapplication? With routine maintenance you’re always going to have good water beading/sheeting performance, right? Just curious. Thank you again for all the dedication you put into your channel! 😎
  • @Maggie-tr2kd
Great, informative video, Pan. I was particularly glad to hear your professional opinion about graphene coatings versus ceramic coatings. The main point I gathered from what you said is that there isn't yet a long enough track record for the graphene coatings whereas there is a well-established track record for ceramic coatings which have been perfected over the years and made easier to apply. Let's say I have a 3 to 5 year ceramic coating applied to a brand new car. At the end of the life of the ceramic coating, do you go through the same steps - wash, clay bar, paint correction, and then new ceramic coating? Is it hard to get off the remnants of the old ceramic coating in order to prepare the car for a new ceramic coating?
  • @patsydawes921
