What goes around, comes around. Rick is great and I've enjoyed his content for many years, but when he started he just copied Mark Crossfield (who is the real OG of YouTube golf ). Grant is now just doing the same....
  • @Lovetheducks
It’s hard to take advice from Rick when he refuses to take any of the same advice.

You should be careful how you word that title, it makes it seem like Rick accused him of something. That was my initial thought when I read it honestly. Good video though!

Never understood the appeal of Grant. He's a nice enough guy, and a decent golfer. But he has the personality of an A.I.. If you've seen 1 of Grant's videos, you've seen them all...
  • @Woogin7
While yes you could argue Grant is “copying” Rick it’s honestly just a natural progression based off his views and I’m all for it. Definitely interested in seeing how he fares against Sergio.

Plenty of room on YouTube for high quality golf content. It isn’t like television. With TV, they’re basically competing for time slots, for a single view. When I open YouTube, I LOVE having tons of good content to watch. I actually watch wayyyy more YouTube golf, than I do golf tournaments on TV. Keep it up boys. Rick will be just fine. Haha

Grant is becoming the american version of Rick, the content is very similar so yes he is kind of emulating him.
  • I think when you look at it as a whole, if you take the content of the videos away (challenges, vs. pro's, etc.), you're essentially watching for the content creators themselves. It's the same concept as watching streamers for gaming, where you're more invested in the streamer themself (MOST of the time) than the games they play. But ironically, just a few hours ago Nate Rick released a playing golf left handed video... which of course Brad Dalke did just a few weeks ago. I don't ever see golf creators copying each other necessarily, but more or less seeing how their audiences respond to that particular content and just running with it.

I think Rick stumbled in to YouTube promoting his lessons…. Grant is a student of YouTube.

I think all the beef is stupid as hell. Good Good to me started a great thing on YouTube with all the original guys, collaborations and then out of nowhere Garret and that other guy left, people hated on one side or the other and fkn opinions when they all should just randomly play each other do collaborations different games, courses, challenges etc. it’s becoming a soap opera and honestly who gives a shit. Play golf, make content, keep people interested. Bryson talking shit to Brooks is the only beef I cared about and enjoyed. This is stupid. Everybody was cool and now they’re not. Fk em

There is a finite amount of ideas for golf videos. Once you have seen all of them, boredom sets in. In my opinion, once the youtube golfers get sponsors, it goes downhill from there. What would really be nice is to go back to a bunch of buddies playing golf and having fun. We can watch pro golfers on tv.

Whatever one’s opinions, imitation is the biggest form of flattery.

You bring up a great point about the relevancy of the title and the substance for long term views. Just last week I was struggling with my driver and remembered a great video I had watched a few years before to help fix the issue from Peter Finch so I went back and found it to re-watch.
  • Let’s be honest-all of YouTube content creators are just copying each other! It just depends on which personalities you like watching play golf!
  • Grant has "copied" Rick on a number of series. No sirprise really, the guy has been a walking blueprint for a while. But hes not copying per se, its all just similar stuff. The best take in this video is acknowledgement of short hit versus long stay popularuty growth in video views. Thats a massive difference between the content creators approach and their go to markwt strategy, but also a representation of their audiences.
  • Yes I agree with you, Rick has been around on YouTube for 15-20 years so he has grown his followers over the years, Grant is still young to YouTube on his own. Loads of people subscribed to Rick in the early years as there was nothing about YouTube golf, he’s done well to carry the career along the way with him. I see Grant as a younger guy who is attracting the younger generation in golf, which is great to see.
