Welcome To Violinist Reacts to Guilty Gear Strive's OST Video.

Wow! I'm so glad you all suggested Guilty Gear Strive's OST for me to check because this soundtrack is a total banger! Watch as I react and jam along to the Find Your One Way and Armor-clad Faith. Guilty Gear Strive's music is dope! Agree?

All of Guilty Gear's music is composed by Daisuke Ishiwatari, who is also the lead art designer, character designer, story writer, and creator of the Guilty Gear franchise. In these two songs he has Naoki from the JP metal band Outrage doing the vocals and Naoki commonly features on vocal tracks. A fun little fact is prior to the very first Guilty Gear game Daisuke had never written a song before which is kinda crazy.

A common sentiment about Guilty Gear Strive is "Oh hey cool, I got a free game with this soundtrack." xD
  • My favorite thing that I've heard about Sol's theme is "it sounds like a bar fight, and you're winning" Fits super well with sol's combat style of just smacking you real hard
  • @doswallo
"This goes hard. Like, real, real, real big time." Honestly, I can't think of a better way to describe Potemkin.

So, a note for you my friend. GG Music, especially Strive's music, attempt to evoke the ENTIRE history of their characters in that one song, and where they are going from here, and this is mirrored in the usage of various effects for the voices and instruments. For instance, those traditional segments in Potemkin's theme stem from what is likely his heritage, as Zepp as a country seems to have split off from India (it is a flying nation over the Indian Ocean). Zepp is also theorized to be partly Russian in inspiration, as Potemkin's name is in fact, a Russian name. Anyways, some backstory on Potemkin, as he is MUCH easier to summarize than Sol Badguy (whose real name is Frederick Bulsara, he's named after Farrokh Bulsara, who we all lovingly know as Freddie Mercury, the one and only Mr. Bad Guy. Sol himself is actually a fan of Queen and collects records from the ruins of the past as a hobby) Potemkin was born as a slave to the Empire of Zepp. A Bomb Collar wrapped around his neck to make sure he would stay loyal. He is also a mutant, in a way that has caused his muscle mass to drastically surpass that of any normal man. He is often called a walking fortress for this reason. Potemkin is a pacifist, who is unsure of his own skills and power, but when given the ability to fight back against Zepp with his then Sergeant Gabriel (who freed him from his bomb collar and asked for his help in overthrowing the Regime), he put aside his own worries to do what he believed to be right, and fight for the freedom of the other Slaves of Zepp. The whole time, unsure if he would just be put under yet another oppressive power. Now, he acts as Gabriel's student, as well as a part of his elite guard, one of if not his most trusted confidants. Gabriel himself has taken the reigns as the President of Zepp after transforming the nation into a democracy and freeing the people. So, while Potemkin hates fighting, he is quite the intelligent man and understands that he must fight if he wishes to protect the innocent. While he may believe himself incapable, that he may fail again, he can't let that phase him, as it is his duty to protect those who cannot do so themselves. Cool guy. Also, he likes drawing, but has difficulties doing so as most pencils are too small and snap between his fingers like dry grass. Apparently, he can casually output 4 TONS of pressure on the pencil, so I can see the issue.

i can't hear that 1st song without thinking of the words "you are going down you sputnik"
  • @ender1546
My main is Potemkin I like him because he's terrifyingly big but also kinda funny. And I very much like his theme.
  • @KingJobber
If you are a big fan of mixing genres and traditional instruments check out any of Baiken's themes from any game. They combine metal with traditional Japanese instrumentation
  • @ElekiSerket
My guy, that solo you did absolutely SLAPS! That electric violin and it's sound immediately reminded me of Mark Wood, big part of my childhood πŸ‘
  • @justmoss8226
Glad you loved the tracks! i hope you do Fausts and Zatos theme next!
  • @Valkerion
This reaction and breakdown is amazing. He caught the insperations and themes of Guilty Gear right away. The characters and music are heavily inspired by rock and metal from the 70's~90's. It goes over soooo many heads when people react to this series OST. It's definitely a weird collection of songs at a glance but once you know what they are doing it starts making sense! Also fun fact, the themes are meant to match the character playstyle as well. Heavier / slower themes are the heavy hitting characters, the fast power metal melodies match the speedy ones.
  • @Arthion
I love the short call-back in 'Find Your One Way' to the opening riff of Sol's old theme 'Keep Yourself Alive' at around 3:50
  • It's cool to experience these for the first time with you. Amazing insight and EPIC playing SPG!
  • @peterbrot5765
you HAVE to do Zatos Theme itis so amazingly written Baiken theme also rocks, since you like the combination of modern and traditional instruments you should listen to it too
  • Yo bro!!! Been watching your videos forever and love them immensely!!! Some other good Guilty Gear songs are Trigger, Necessary Discrepancy, Rock Parade, Let Me Carve Your Way, and Love the Subhuman Self
  • @GeebzGBZ
I hope you check out more tracks! This ost is amazing and you actually made me appreciate sol's theme more, I always never really paid attention to it
  • @Eggsi__
Honestly, id love to see more of Guilty gear, its some amazing stuff, personally I main Axl Low, and while i love his song, i think others deserve to be reacted to first. such as, "Necessary Discrepancy", "drift", "Let Me carve your way", and "mirror of the world"
  • @Firamiel
