I want to set the record straight on MatPat since I keep getting comments about me being mean to him. I love MatPat. He's one of my top three favorite YouTubers. Sprinkled throughout the video I say that Mat's theories were the best we had at the time and how I was only able to make this video with a decade of hindsight. I even joke that I only made the video to get noticed by him. But I understand how things like that can get lost in a 9 hour video. This video explores the story of the in-universe lore, Scott creating the series, and the history of the fandom, which is why MapPat, Markiplier, and Dawko are brought up so much. It's impossible to talk about the fandom without talking about him, and I think pointing out how his theories were faulty and how that impacted the community is an important aspect to telling the real life story of FNAF. The key quote, I believe, is when I transitioned to talking about FNAF 4. "I just wanted to talk about (MatPat) because it really paints a picture of how people had no idea what was going on at the time. And as we move into the next section, where I have no idea what's going on, I want you to understand how the people who interpreted FNAF 1 as an alternate universe bad ending prequel have no chance of understanding FNAF 4" In order to tell the story I needed to explain MatPat, how he was wrong, why he was wrong, and what in hindsight we now know is true. Comments where I said things like "MatPat had a brain fart", or used the Always Sunny meme to make fun of dream theory, or played a clip of him calling himself cringey were intended to be playful. I only used the cringey audio because I was watching that episode of GTLive while editing, and it was easy to insert because I literally had it pulled up already. Those jokes are almost like a manifestation of my parasocial relationship with MatPat. I felt like I could take jabs at him and they'd come off as funny because of how much I respect him, and the fact that I've been a fan of his for over a decade, and feel like I'm part of his inside jokes, because I watch literally every one of his videos. But the one million people who have seen my video don't know that about me. And that's my fault for not taking that into account. So no, I don't hate MatPat. No, this was not an attack video against him or his theories. And I did not mean to insult him. Him acknowledging this video's existence on GT live was one of the highlights of my 5-year long YouTube career. Thank you for reading this very long comment on this very long video.
  • @NBVagabond
Love hearing the words "The final chapter is the midpoint of our story" and then seeing we're not even a quarter of the way through the video
  • Did I watch almost 9 hours of FNAF lore without actually playing the games? Yes, yes I did. This was so well done. 👏
  • @jaxolotl
bold of you to assume I wont watch the entire video again. these are vital fnaf lore speedrun tips I need to learn.
  • @strawberttt
viewers, PLEASE get this video back to it's prior popularity. Gibi needs to be noticed
  • @edie1707
This video is 2 months old and there are so many comments i doubt you are reading them all, but i wanted to share my condolences for your bother. i saw in a comment you made that he passed in the process of working on this video. i just wanted to let you know that your family is in my heart even if we are strangers. i am proud of you for finishing this huge project (regardless of the tragedy you’ve experienced, this is a very impressive video that i enjoyed very much) and i hope that you are doing well out there. take care of yourself and know that you have so many strangers who care about you.
  • i think springtrap saying "i always come back" in ucn could be interpreted as a sadistic mockery. like this is a phrase william's used against mike time and time again, a threat of more harm and evil to come, and now cassidy's thrown it back in william's face - he can't truly die and escape this hell because no matter how many times he/the player loses ucn, the game can always be replayed and william will always be brought back for more torture
  • @F33tLov3r
Currently screaming and crying because my friends won’t watch this 8 hour long video to learn the lore of a game they don’t care abt just to watch a movie
  • @Kate-su6tf
Have I ever played this game? No. Will I? No. Am I learning everything possible because my son loves it and I want to be able to participate in conversation? Yep. ETA: Thanks for the really sweet comments! I took him to see the movie tonight as a surprise and we had a great time. It doesn’t really follow the lore but it made for an enjoyable conversation on the ride home and had a ton of fun Easter eggs. Side note, the fandom community gives warm fuzzies. PS: To clarify, I’m a mom. 😉

3 minutes of homework: 😴😴💤💤 8 hours of fnaf explained and lore: 🤑🤑🗣🔥
  • @joshkaid
I'm going to give Scott credit. The lore is surprisingly consistent considering he was just making it up as he went along.
  • @Deggo
There’s no way that we have an 8 hour documentary of the entirety of FNAF, with good editing, voice actors, and real life examples. I can’t believe that this is free. Insane job.
  • @petchannel6244
I'm using this video to think about something else and to cope with losing my brother. Thank you for making this so long. Gives me more time to grieve , but also enjoy a series i've loved for many years.
  • @ratcid
Listened to this like a podcast driving from Oklahoma to Illinois. Still had 10 minutes left when I finished the trip
  • @osmosisjones9341
I know the 9-hour runtime is supposed to be funny, and it is, but I'm a sucker for absurdly long video essays and I'm genuinely so pleased to have found this video. A complete lore all together in one video, well explained, no hyperactive jumpy narration and animations, no needless humor that distracts from the viewing experience and comprehension
  • @bella-rj5ch
The voice actor playing William screaming for help absolutely nailed it, it's chilling.
  • @Lalo_Lunara
I came expecting this to be some 9 hour shitpost. What I got was an intriguing legitimate summary of the FNaF franchise. While there are a few points that I disagree with, the entire thing was well organized and presented in an interesting and funny way. And it convinced me that the conclusion of UCN being one of the best moments in the franchise. Thank you for making this video.
