No this never works any more, the key is to perfect the timing on the jump strategy and high up top with a good number of tiles. Try to always be looking at where other players are going to be and try to make your own little island. Plan your inevitable falls to lower levels.

What you should do, is if you see someone doing this, go to the floor above the bottom one and begin getting rid of that. What will end up happening is that the people up top will end up falling straight into the slime and will have no time to decide where to go on the bottom level
